Question: how crazy do you have to be that Jesse Ventura can't take it?

Answer: Scott Jensen

‘This election is too important;’ Ventura endorses Gov. Walz

In a bit of a rare move, former Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura released an endorsement Thursday morning.

The state’s 38th governor, who served as an independent from 1999 to 2003, endorsed DFL incumbent Gov. Tim Walz for reelection.

“As an independent statesman, I don’t believe in the major political parties. Since leaving office, I’ve rarely endorsed a candidate for office in Minnesota – of any political persuasion,” Ventura said in a video shared by Walz’s campaign. “But this election is too important. That’s why I’m endorsing Governor Tim Walz for reelection.”

Ventura cited Walz’s actions during the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as his support for women’s rights and abortion rights, as reasons he’s voting for Walz. He added that he won’t stand with anyone “who cannot condemn the January 6th insurrection.”

Roseville police: 1 dead, 4 hurt; 17-year-old suspect in custody

Roseville police say a homicide suspect is in custody after a shelter-in-place order was broadly issued Tuesday morning.

According to Roseville Police Chief Erika Scheider, who spoke during a news conference Tuesday afternoon, police responded to the 1100 block of Ryan Avenue at about 10:23 a.m. on a report of an assault in progress.

Upon arrival, officers found one person they pronounced dead at the scene, as well as two people with serious injuries and two people with minor injuries. The suspect, later described as a 17-year-old male, had left the scene by the time officers arrived.

Scheider said a preliminary investigation revealed the suspect, the person found dead, and the four people found injured are all family members.

Sacheen Littlefather's sisters say she was not Native American. The actress had disputed similar claims before.

In 1973, actress Sacheen Littlefeather stepped on stage at the Oscars on behalf of Marlon Brando, identifying herself as a member of the Apache tribe and turning down his award because of the way Native Americans were treated in the U.S. Now, her two sisters are saying she lied — their family is not Native American.

Littlefeather, who died earlier this month at age 75, was active in the Native American Bay Area community. During her speech at the Oscars, she said she was president of the National Native American Affirmative Image Committee. In an interview published in a San Francisco Chronicle opinion column over the weekend, her biological sisters, Rosalind Cruz and Trudy Orlandi, said Littlefeather did not tell the truth that night.

"It's a lie," Orlandi told activist and writer Jacqueline Keeler in the exclusive interview. "My father was who he was. His family came from Mexico. And my dad was born in Oxnard," a city near Los Angeles.

Littlefeather said she was part White Mountain Apache and part Yaqui, two tribes located in Arizona.

The U.S. Army's 101st Airborne is practicing for war with Russia just miles from Ukraine's border

The U.S. Army's 101st Airborne Division has been deployed to Europe for the first time in almost 80 years amid soaring tension between Russia and the American-led NATO military alliance. The light infantry unit, nicknamed the "Screaming Eagles," is trained to deploy on any battlefield in the world within hours, ready to fight.

CBS News joined the division's Deputy Commander, Brigadier General John Lubas, and Colonel Edwin Matthaidess, Commander of the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, on a Black Hawk helicopter for the hour-long ride to the very edge of NATO territory — only around three miles from Romania's border with Ukraine.

From the moment Russian President Vladimir Putin launched his full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, his forces have advanced northward from the Crimean Peninsula, a Ukrainian region that Moscow illegally seized control of in 2014. For more than seven months, Russian troops have tried to push along the Black Sea coast into the Kherson region, aiming to capture the key Ukrainian port cities of Mykolaiv and Odesa.

Their goal is to cut off all Ukrainian access to the sea, leaving the country and its military forces landlocked.

5th grade teacher arrested after admitting to active 'kill list' of students and teachers she works with

A  fifth grade teacher has been arrested after telling one of her students that she had made a “kill list” of the students she taught and the colleagues she worked with.

At approximately 5 p.m. on Wednesday, officers from the East Chicago Police Department were dispatched to speak with the principal and assistant principal of St. Stanislaus School -- located about 20 miles south of downtown Chicago -- in reference to a threatening report that school officials had learned about earlier in the day regarding fifth grade teacher Angelica Carrasquillo-Torres, a 25-year old educator from Griffith, Indiana.

"At approximately 12:45 p.m. a 5th grade student told his/her Counselor that their 5th grade teacher made comments to him/her about killing herself, students, and staff at St. Stanislaus School,” East Chicago Police Department said in a statement released on social media. “The teacher further told the student that she has a list and that he/she was on the bottom of that list.”

"During the conversation the teacher named a specific student on her list, but did not provide the list,” authorities confirmed. “The Principal then advised the teacher to leave and not return to school pending an investigation.”

Anatomy of a clusterfuck

State Investigation Fueled Flawed Understanding of Delays During Police Response in Uvalde

After the massacre in Uvalde, Texas, in May, a simple account of the police response took hold: A school police chief misread the threat and scores of officers from over a dozen federal, state and local agencies, following his command, idly stood by, waiting for equipment and SWAT teams while children trapped in classrooms with the gunman called 911 for help.

This shocking scene was described by the agency leading the criminal investigation of the mass shooting, the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Nearly five months later, despite questions raised by other government reviews and journalists, D.P.S. continues to claim that the evidence supports this version of events and the public understanding it fueled.

But an analysis of footage by The New York Times found major gaps and contradictions in the D.P.S. findings.

So many failures when the required action can be summed in one word- engage.

New Zealand angers its farmers by proposing taxing cow burps

New Zealand's government on Tuesday proposed taxing the greenhouse gasses that farm animals make from burping and peeing as part of a plan to tackle climate change.

The government said the farm levy would be a world first, and that farmers should be able to recoup the cost by charging more for climate-friendly products.

But farmers quickly condemned the plan. Federated Farmers, the industry's main lobby group, said the plan would "rip the guts out of small-town New Zealand" and see farms replaced with trees.

Federated Farmers President Andrew Hoggard said farmers had been trying to work with the government for more than two years on an emissions reduction plan that wouldn't decrease food production.

They should look into technology that develops a mask to catch the methane from the burps so it becomes a resource rather than waste. The urine is easy, catheters...

Is a nuclear war winnable?

There has been discussion of the capability of the US nuclear arsenal compared to Russia. It has been put forth that much of Russia's weaponry may not be functional.

Given the necessity of stopping expansionist tyrants as soon as possible and the apparent superiority of NATO nuclear weapons, should the risk of escalating to a nuclear war no longer be a reason for the US/NATO to avoid confrontation?

Has it reached the point where the US and its allies would win a nuclear exchange?
