Canada had zero Covid 19 in the past 24 hours. Here, where our illustrious leader has stated we are turning the corner on the hoax, is daily recording over 1000 deaths per 24 hrs. AND his idiot followers don't believe the pandemic is real. This whole farce gets worse daily.

Woodward tells how allies tried to rein in 'childish' Trump's foreign policy

On the golf course, Lindsey Graham urged restraint on Iran, while James Mattis slept in his clothes in case of emergency, book says
Donald Trump speaks as the former defense secretary James Mattis looks on in 2017.

Four days before ordering a drone strike against the Iranian military commander Qassem Suleimani, Donald Trump was debating the assassination on his own Florida golf course, according to Bob Woodward’s new book on the mercurial president..................................

..................The president also expressed pride in his relationship with Turkey’s leader, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who in October 2019 persuaded Trump to announce a troop withdrawal from north-eastern Syria, abandoning America’s Kurdish allies, who had taken the lead in the fight against Isis.

The decision was the last straw for an outraged Mattis.

“When I was basically directed to do something that I thought went beyond stupid to felony stupid, strategically jeopardizing our place in the world, and everything else. That’s when I quit,” the former defence secretary said.

Mattis predicted Trump’s impact on the country would be lasting.

“This degradation of the American experiment is real. This is tangible. Truth is no longer governing the White House statements,” he said.

Coats, the former intelligence director, fired in July 2019 while he was playing golf on one of Trump’s courses, came to a similar conclusion.

“To him, a lie is not a lie. It’s just what he thinks,” Coats said. “He doesn’t know the difference between the truth and a lie.”

@KamalaHarris makes unannounced visit to Doral, home to Miami's Venezuelan community

In this nice thread about Kamala visit to Miami

But there was a tweet by Gateway p. (which is a far right nasty website)--with pic of protestors lining her roadway saying the Latino community does not welcome her. caption on tweet: "No Communista" - Kamala Harris Not Well Received in Miami - Latinos For Trump Line the Streets to Make Clear They Reject Her Far-Left Policies '

I assume Kamala Harris did well with her visit to Miami-although I have not read anything about the visit other that this.

Kamala Harris arrived at Miami International Airport on Thursday, Sept. 10, 2020, and visited the Florida Memorial University campus in Miami Gardens. By Pedro Portal

During her first visit to Miami as Joe Biden’s running mate, Kamala Harris sought out a diverse group of voters who haven’t seen the Democratic ticket in the state for nearly a year.

With less than eight weeks to go until the Nov. 3 election, Harris and her husband, Doug Emhoff, flew into Miami International Airport Thursday and then fanned out across the county, meeting with Black voters, college students, Jewish and Hispanic voters in a six-hour span. Biden, the Democratic presidential nominee, will return Tuesday to the battleground state.

Polls show the race tightening in Florida, where President Donald Trump’s strengths are among men and white and Cuban voters. But for Biden and Harris, a winning formula is more complicated, and involves bringing together an array of communities with different priorities and viewpoints.

Trump makes wild claims about revitalizing auto industry at Michigan rally

Source: Detroit Free Press

FREELAND, Mich. — President Donald Trump made wildly inaccurate claims at a rally outside Saginaw on Thursday night, suggesting he has revitalized auto manufacturing in the state when it actually lost jobs even before coronavirus hit in March.

"We brought you a lot of car plants, we brought you a lot ... and we’re going to bring you a lot more," Trump began his speech at MBS International Airport in Freeland.

But only one new major assembly facility, a Jeep plant on Detroit's east side, has been announced during Trump's term, while General Motors underwent a divisive 40-day strike last year and announced the idling of four U.S. plants, including two in Michigan. One of those, Detroit-Hamtramck, has since been revived and is being retooled to build electric cars and SUVs. Warren transmission was revived most recently to make face masks, though its future is uncertain...............

Trump also said that after speaking with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, officials announced "five new car companies are coming to Michigan," but there has been no such announcement that the Free Press is aware of. In March 2019, a day after Trump spoke to Abe by phone, Toyota announced a $749 million investment in plants in Alabama, Kentucky, Missouri, Tennessee and West Virginia, but none in Michigan........................

Trump keeps bragging about imaginary auto plants in swing states

https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2020/09/10/trump-keeps-bragging-about-imaginary-auto-plants-swing-states/

September 10, 2020 at 2:00 a.m. CDT

“Many plants are being built right now — auto plants — in Michigan, just like I said. They’re being built in Ohio, they’re being built in South Carolina, North Carolina, they’re being built all over and expanded at a level that we’ve never seen before. Cause I said to Japan, Germany and others, ‘Sorry, you’ve got to come here and build plants, otherwise we’re going to have to make it very tough on you with tariffs.’ ”

...........As for his claim of unprecedented investment, Dziczek said: “In total, there were over $64.2 billion in automaker manufacturing investment announcements in the United States between 2013-2016 (previous three-year period) vs. $40.0B between 2017-2020.”

In other words, not unprecedented.

We sought comment from the White House but did not get a response.

The Pinocchio Test

Only five new auto plants have been announced since Trump took office, and investment in auto manufacturing was higher under the last three years of Barack Obama’s presidency than the first three of Trump’s. Three of the four states name-checked by Trump do not have new plants. And there’s no evidence that Trump’s threat of tariffs led to more auto investment.
