No Vested Interest
No Vested Interest's JournalThank you for that. Teddy Kennedy understood and did the right thing. nt
Apparently many do not get that in 2015-2016.
Recall how it was that Bush was elected President, and remained so for 8 years.
A great enough number of persons voted for Ralph Nader, the "purer" candidate in their eyes.
Those who knew how close the election was encouraged, begged Nader to endorse Al Gore at the end.
His ego wouldn't allow it, and we all know the result - 8 yrs. of Bush, Irag War, Great Recession, etc. etc.
Republicans are very disciplined when it comes to voting.
Democrats are undisciplined, even inclined to not bother to vote.
We all know the result.
I will vote for the Democratic nominee for President!
Municipalities and the state can just stop enforcing laws that are anti
marijuana, if that is the will of the people.
Or they can fine or not fine.
The federal prohibition remains, as you know.
It's called greed. Look to those named as principals in the ten "farms".
All already rich, want more.
One would think Amazon would have a policy re spamming reviews.
Surely it has happened many times re books and products.
Someone fed Bush that line, and he'd better hope that person is one of those
laid off or rendered silent.
Metro News had it right - Republican humor.
And he, Bush, married to a native of a country that takes a lot of bluster from Amuricans. - You'd think he'd know better.
You'd think.
I was reminded today of the Litany of the Saints - hadn't heard or said it
in a long time - probably many years.
I sort of liked the recitation of the names of so many saints, either in Latin or English, followed by the sing-song "Ora pro nobis" or "Pray for us." Sancta Cecilia, ora pro nobis, etc.
I went to a Catholic college pre-Vatican II, where we were required to attend benediction every Tuesday afternoon, wearing cap & gown(!) - Yeah, I know most people can't even conceive of that today. I and a friend did skip it at times for a neighborhood bar, but I digress. Anyway, the Litany of the Saints was part of the service, at times.
Another age - a long time ago.
DLO- You are of course correct re the behavior of others being
their own responsibility, and in general I have known and respected that. She has been "diagnosed" in recent years with Aspergers syndrome - I'm not sure that's the most correct diagnosis, but will accept it in lieu of no diagnosis. Gregarious but doesn't recognize personal boundaries.
I am a senior, healthy enough but with limited energy. I do have the financial means to provide proper meals, perhaps delivered to her, if necessary. If there were a living situation that would look in perhaps daily, I could also provide or assist with that, though that would clip her wings in some ways that she would chafe at.
While recognizing that resolving the problems may be difficult if not impossible, I just had to get this off my chest last night, as I have never reached out to DU in this manner before. There is much wisdom and support here, which is why I stay, despite the squabbling that goes in some of the forums.
Thanks for hugs and good wishes.
Thanks for your response. Defective pen - just shows that
there are so many small details that have to be monitored.
