One time the server with the chalice pulled it back from me when I approached. He'd already said the blood of Christ and I'd already said amen, but I guess the thought of my politics gripped him at the very last and he couldn't bear to help a heretic commit more heresy. So he pulled it back. We locked eyes in the Death Stare, and I said quite firmly, "AGAIN I say amen." Gimme that! I was starting to wonder if he needed a good right hook to the jaw, but eventually the officiating priest gave him a warning look and the emergency passed. Yeah, so tell me about hypocrisy.
I've subscribed to Patheos too for quite some time. Like 'em a lot.
And I do love a good story.
But I'll never understand anyone criticizing the road another took home. Nobody has room to talk. What matters is that we wind up where we're supposed to be.

I'm horrified that you received even a single slightly negative response to your story. But you're a mystic, and many don't understand that at all. I'm glad you returned not only for your sake, but for those you're able to help in their own walk.
If you remember, Dragonly Speaking was an early voice software program. I liked it but there was
never any reason - before - to sit down and really learn it. Somebody gave me their copy years ago, so it might not work with today's machines either. But I need to do something.
For some reason most of my symptoms have abated, meaning it probably hasn't gone far enough for surgery - yet. Another person also suggested that I get a glove to wear at night to keep my fingers from curling under as I sleep. Said it helped her.

Sorry to say it's probably too late for Bernie Sanders to be president too; not only his age, but also the fact that he's from such a small state with relatively few electoral college votes. Bless his heart, though; wasn't he the one who suggested a Clinton/Warren ticket just this last week? It was one of our majors, anyway. I'd love to see such a ticket, and '16 might be the very year for two women. Of course I want one of the Castro brothers to run someday too, especially Joaquin, because he'd pull in Texas.
Yes, I do have certain neighbors who'd benefit by seeing me with a scythe!
I'd love to switch to meadow mode but need to think it over awhile first because I have dogs, and they're harder on flowers than grass.
And I'm afraid there are no men around here who'd mow w/o $, and if they did they'd expect more than a meal. Because it's such a rabid teabagger area - boy, I can sure pick a retirement spot, can't I? - I'm lucky I can even hire one to mow. When an ancient oak rotted at the base and threatened to fall over on the house, one of the area's main tree trimmers refused the work expressly because of my politics - which I don't discuss at all hardly ever unless I'm cornered, btw. That was an expensive job, too, as you can well imagine.
So I really want to figure out some way to sit and mow for myself because I don't know that I'll ever be able to afford a Yard Bug, no matter how much I like them.
Here in RedNeckLand, the last time someone disrespected him in my presence, I said:
"Go ahead and hate him then. Hate him all you want. It just makes us love him more."

I like the idea of the scythe, but at my age - almost 69 if still sturdy - my toes might be in danger. So might my extremely irritating neighbor on the south side. He's a belligerent old bully who takes my rejection of him very poorly. Sometimes he can be beyond nasty and sometimes I can be tempermental. Bad combo.
If I were competent at handling it, your 3-wheeler towing a reel mower would work great. Unfortunately I'd probably wind up cutting down all sorts of things I've worked almost a decade growing to maturity. The yard's almost a 1/4 acre but I didn't landscape with an eye to easy mowing. I'd navigate like a drunk Woody Allen, the world's worst driver. I need something slow and steady with a clear view of what I'm doing in front. When I told my kids I had eyes in the back of my head, that was a lie.
Yes, the MSI has an internal fan that works fine. I keep it elevated too, which is probably one
reason it's lasted so long. Can't imagine what was burning in there. The main (and just about only) thing I know about opening a computer or laptop is that it's way too easy to make matters worse. When the Dell graphics card started to fail, I asked a local repair shop about it and the owner, a Mennonite, discouraged the idea because the replacement part would probably be unreliable too. So for now I'm switching between machines regularly, even though the MSI no longer seems to have problems. The Dell has always been elevated on a device that has external cooling fans too.
When computers first came out and people were well warned not to keep them too close to phones etc., there was some concern about whether I'd literally kill them. My body carries such strong physical magnetism that if I hold a pair of scissors in my hand for 10-15 minutes, they become so charged that pins will slide as much as 2 feet across a flat service. As yet I don't have any metal replacement body parts, not even many dental fillings; but I still used to set off security alarms at airports and government offices. After several cops rushed at me with guns drawn one time, I started calling ahead to warn them I was coming.
Hopefully this is not related to the computer problems, though, because I do tend to be very careful with them.
Any other Ruthie Foster fans out there?
She's mainly blues and folk, but I first heard her on NPR singing what you'd have to call gospel blues. Not surprising when you consider her family background. She sounds a lot like a younger Aretha Franklin.
Anyway, if you want to expand your horizons, check her out. She's fabulous.
