Wasserman Shultz and 87 democrats vote to enable racial discrimination

They were joined by 244 Republicans.

This week, the House of Representatives voted to help banks and car dealerships discriminate against customers of color. And it wasn't just Republicans -- 88 Democrats, including Democratic National Committee Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) -- voted in favor of the legislation.

....

The NAACP, the Urban League, the National Council of La Raza, Americans for Financial Reform and other groups opposed the legislation. The Congressional Progressive Caucus urged lawmakers to vote against it, as did Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.), the top-ranking Democrat on the House Financial Services Committee. President Barack Obama issued a statement saying he "strongly opposes" the bill, but stopped short of a formal veto threat.

Full listing of democrats that voted for this bill at link:

Under attack at the Democratic debate, Hillary Clinton plays EVERY POSSIBLE CARD

You can tell, generally speaking, when a candidate feels that a question has hit too close to home because that candidate responds by Playing a Card.

If you say, “Now, Alexandra, you still haven’t established your whereabouts on the night of the crime” and my response is “Listen, John. I am an American, not just an American, but a woman, a veteran, and a cancer survivor, of immigrant descent, raised by a single mother, a police officer, and — like so many others — I have not forgotten September 11th, nor do I ever intend to. I am a brave fireman. I saved a child from drowning. Also, I, a Christian, am wrapped in an American flag right now.” (This does not, you will notice, answer the question, but it will get the audience to clap and it will make the person who asked or accused feel bad that he ever dared cast aspersions on someone who holds as many cards as you do.)

The only trouble with the Card Playing answer that you have to be a little bit subtle when you deliver this answer or else people will notice what you are doing and their sympathy will evaporate like morning dew and they will say things like “The woman card AND the 9/11 card, wow!”

In fact, later in the evening, a follow-up — from Twitter, no less — (out of the mouths of eggs!) commented: “I’ve never seen a candidate invoke 9/11 to justify millions of Wall Street donations until now.”

Hey remember the last time Hillary Clinton lost the democratic nomination

And her supporters' website, HillaryIs44.com, became a right wing white hate site that still exists today?

http://www.hillaryis44.org/2015/09/01/yes-donald-trump-does-destroy-the-gop-because-obama-destroyed-the-dems/

I guess we're supposed to ignore that. Sorry, I probably need another another lecture on bigotry and loyalty to the democratic party.

Does anyone honestly think Hillary Clinton will base her position on TPP on the bill itself?

Serious question.

Does anyone actually believe Hillary Clinton and her staff are going through the text of the TPP bill to understand exactly what is involved and making a decision on whether or not she will support the bill based on a good faith appraisal of the text?

I think she is meeting with pollsters to decide which position will best benefit her campaign.

Where does Barrack Obama really stand?

blast from the past, 05/04/08

Hillary Clinton has re-opened her sharp attack on Barack Obama's position on guns, with a mailer in Indiana that seeks to raise questions about him with both supporters and opponents of gun rights.

The mailing -- perhaps the sharpest-edged of Clinton's five negative mail pieces in Indiana -- casts him as a typical politician, saying different things to different audiences. It also revives his damaging comments in San Francisco that small town people cling to guns.

Then, making the harsh case more broadly, the mailer asks: "What does Barack Obama really believe?"

The piece is particularly striking coming from Clinton, who has been seen for most of her career as a firm advocate of gun control, but more recently has emerged -- without dramatically shifting her stance on specific issues -- as a defender of the Second Amendment who fondly recalled being taught to shoot by her grandfather in Scranton.

Wake Up, Democratic Party: You're In Serious Trouble

In reality, the Democrats only fully control seven state governments, and only have even partial sway over 12 more. That's just 19 out of 50 states. That means the GOP dominates elections in over half of our states. And with the Republican tendency to engage in election fraud, it would be foolish for the Democratic Party to rest on its laurels.

This is the result of four years with Debbie Wasserman Schultz as Chair of the Democratic National Committee . She took over from Tim Kaine in 2011, after his program, "Organizing for America" not only failed to expand Democratic control, but handed control to the Republicans. However, instead of reversing Kaine's work, she effectively solidified his programs and tactics. The end result is that while in 2009, the Democrats had solid control over a sizable portion of state governments and both houses of Congress, their numbers have since dwindled dramatically.

And the program which Kaine replaced was the one put forth by Howard Dean in 2005, the 50 state strategy. The strategy Dean pioneered landed control of both houses of congress to the Democrats, and landed a scrawny black kid from Chicago with a funny name in the White House. His strategy worked beyond just the federal level as well, landing Democratic control in states which had been previously Republican strongholds, such as Montana. In other words, despite the DNC leadership's objections, going full-tilt in all 50 states (instead of focusing mainly on battleground states) was a rousing success. In fact, Dean's program was so successful that none other than Karl Rove was pushing for the GOP to engage with their own version.

Yet, for some reason, the Democrats have abandoned a strategy that works for one that keeps failing over and over again.
