drray23's Journaltrump keeps gaining in polls despite crasy statements
Since it keeps working, he has to up the ante every time.
I fully expect that next, he will be saying we should use a nuclear bomb to wipe some of the muslim countries.
Earlier on MSNBC they were interviewing some of his supporters. One said that we should bomb indiscriminately in sirya because the can "reproduce" and will generate more terrorists. Basically, advocating for mass genocide. Yet, the interviewer did not call her on that. This is unthinkable.
I have never heard such hateful rhetoric before on mainstream media
So, I have Sirius XM and earlier I was listening to CNN while driving to work.
They had two repubs and an author of a book about islamophobia on the panel. I could not believe the kind of rhetoric the repubs were spewing on CNN. It is now apparently mainstream to say things like the "vast majority" of muslims support ISIS...
To his credit, the anchor pushed back hard and ask the guy to produce sources backing this claim. When he could not he fell into a rage instead.
On a separate instance, they had Trump on MSNBC being interviewed in regards of the statements he made about having all muslims forbidden to enter the US. Trump started to make completely insane statements such that the administration had a policy where we would implicitely deny refugee status to christian syrians but allow it for muslim syrians. Of course, its total nonsense and the anchor flatly said it was a lie and asked trump does it matter to you that it is not the truth ? They went a it for a few minutes.
What I find remarkable besides the level of hateful rhetoric that we are now seeing is that the mainstream media journalists are now pushing back and flat out calling out lies. Even Chuck Todd did that the other day.
I wonder if Trump managed to get our media to grow a spine again and start calling out nonsense which they stopped doing years ago in order to keep the ratings high.
the tragic events in charleston and the supreme court decisions
are triggering a movement to finally remove the confederate flags from public places. It is also quite revealing as of what people you thought knew really think.
I live in the south ( Virginia) and until now did not realize how many bigots and racists were amongst my acquaintances. I had to unfriend quite a few on facebook alone, got into an argument with a bunch of others.
governor perry's administration handling of the ebola case in dallas
This is tragically comic. They keep accumulating blunders. Maddow just had an excellent expose on the matter.
From not admitting the guy the first time around, not properly quarantining and desinfecting the apartment, sending a regular $8.00 an hour guy to clean the sidewalk with a karcher, having a press conference where the officials barely answer anything and leave claiming they have meetings, etc..
Sounds like a katrina bush moment. Not a very good way for perry to display his crisis management skills...
I grew up castrating hogs on an iowa farm so I will know how to cut pork ..
Joni ernst, gop candidate for senate in iowa...
Its almost as good as the "i am not a witch" ad..
Rachel Maddow made an interesting point yesterday
about how the president got personally involved in pushing for congress to give him tacit approval and money for the operations against ISIL. He decided to pick up the phone and personally phone GOP and Dems key members of congress to tell them to stop the vote on the continuing resolution so that he could insert something to fund military operations.
Apparently, stroking the GOP reps ego was enough to make them do a 180. The statement by Mike Rogers afterwards was quite striking, same for John Boehner.
I am curious as to whether or not doing this can work on other topics such as the immigration reform. Perhaps the repubs are so full of themselves that if you appeal to their ego, you get somewhere..
Either that or they used the fact the president phoned them as an excuse to fund the war without being criticized by their base. After all, they are supposed to oppose everything president Obama does, unless maybe its about going to war.
I am in the president's camp on this subject. I think we ought to do something but I certainly do not want to end up mired with 100,000 troops back in iraq or even syria. Its a no win situation. If he does not do anything he will be accused of not defending the US interests abroad and being too weak on fight against terrorism, if he does intervene he has to calibrate it carefully or he will be accused by some of his base to be a warmonger.
Fundamentally, that is the difference between sitting behind a keyboard and having clear black and white positions or being the president and having to deal with reality and hence, make decisions that will anger some people no matter what.
not impressed by richard engel
He is being billed as a foreign policy expert but all he does is deliver opinions making it sound like he had in depth ultimate knowledge of all geopolitical issues.
He used to just be a good war correspondent reporting from conflict zones. Now it seems he has morphed into s pundit who delivers his opinion from the conflict zone instead of a studio.
That is the impression he gives me anyway.
interesting that chuck todd is not on the msnbc panel
On rachel maddow. They are covering the president address and no sign of the "political director ".
i would have voted for it.
It is interesting that you proposed that in June and it failed to pass then.
Since then we had Ferguson and renewed attention on the behavior of the police and their excessive militarisation. Maybe the political climate is changing enough that your initiative may be reintroduced as an actual bill and get enough votes. Otherwise I fear that by the time the defense budget is up for renewal again, the outrage about ferguson will have died down and nothing will happen.
Keep up the good fight, representative Grayson, we need more politicians like you truly caring for the people.
Police Shooting-Plagued Albuquerque to Host Police Shooting Tourney
Source: gawker
It might be a good time for the homeless, or teenagers, or Latinos, or African-Americans, or
actually, shit, pretty much everybody in Albuquerque to get out of town because about 500 cops from across the nation and beyond are set to descend on New Mexico's largest city to play with their guns.
