The Mongolian born rikishi won his first Makuuchi tournament with a 12 and 3 record. The maegashira #2s record included a gold star win over Yokozuna Terunofuji on day 5 of the tournament.

Spring Basho Finally

Sekiwake Wakatakakage defeats Maegashira 7 Takayasu in a playoff match to win the Emperor’s Cup at the Spring Basho in Osaka Japan. Both Rikishi had finished the tournament with 12 -3 records.
