Should we be welcoming unsolicited Chinese election assistance?

CNN Politics, 5-3-2019

" Trump says he spoke with Putin about 'Russian hoax,' didn't warn him against 2020 election meddling "
…………..

" Intelligence officials believe that Russian interference in US public affairs continues. But efforts to focus the administration's efforts in countering that meddling have been met with resistance from the President, who has viewed any suggestion that Russia helped him win the election as a challenge to his legitimacy.

According to the Mueller report, "[T]he investigation established that the Russian government perceived it would benefit from a Trump presidency and worked to secure that outcome, and that the campaign expected it would benefit electorally from information stolen and released through Russian efforts." The Mueller report also details Russia's efforts at interference during the 2016 election, which led to charges against several Russians and Russian entities. "

It's clear to me that trump and the pukes continue to welcome Russian interference and assistance in the 2020 election. We may be strong as a domestic Party but we can't be expected to battle the pukes and foreign governments simultaneously.

2020 election: do you believe?

Rep. Adam Schiff, tweet

" On Sunday, Kellyanne Conway wouldn’t even acknowledge Russia helped Trump.

And Rudy Giuliani effectively said it was fine if they did.

Today, Jared Kushner said the attack was no more than a few Facebook ads.

There is no patriotism in Trump’s GOP. Only cowardly opportunism. "

RT, 4-23-2019

"After White House adviser Jared Kushner suggested the Russiagate probe did more damage to the US than “a couple of Facebook ads,” Democrats went into meltdown with accusations of “propaganda” spreading and lack of “patriotism.” "

RT, 4-24-2019

" Trump's administration cooperated with special counsel Robert Mueller's probe for two full years and was vindicated when the investigation turned up zero proof of Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election, Trump told the Washington Post – so why should they submit to further probing at the hands of a Democrat-controlled House eager to score political points off him? "
……………...

" With their collusion hopes firmly dashed by Thursday's release of the redacted 448-page report, Trump's opponents have seized on language that they believe details 10 incidences in which the president obstructed justice - though the report itself did not reach a conclusion on the president's guilt. Democrats have taken that opening and run with it, with multiple committees opening probes into possible obstruction, even as the party remains divided over whether impeachment is feasible. "

Would obstruction of justice qualify as an impeachable high crime and misdemeanor worth pursuing?

NBC News, 3-27-2019

From today's Lester Holt interview of James Comey,

" The president initially said he'd removed Comey at the urging of deputy attorney general Rod Rosenstein and then-Attorney General Jeff Sessions, but he later told Holt it was his decision, and the president cited his frustration with the Russia probe.

Comey, asked on Wednesday by Holt what he felt about the sequence of events, replied that he still believed it raised serious questions.

"I thought that's potentially obstruction of justice and I hope somebody is going to look at that," Comey said. "Again, the president appears to be saying, I don't know what's in his head — which is why I can't reach the conclusion — what he appears to be saying is, I got rid of this guy to shut down an investigation that threatened me." Should Democratic ex-Presidents be speaking louder?

They held the office, they know what it's all about. They know what's going on behind the scenes.

In the past, ex-Presidents have tried to remain silent. We now know republicans are threatening a real 'witch hunt' of a Democratic ex-President and of Democratic ex-officials to muddy the waters and shut down debate over real republican corruption. And then there's trump.

When he's exited from office does anyone truly believe he's going to be a silent ex-President? Won't an ex-President trump be tweeting hourly bashing Democrats until he passes?

I feel our ex-Presidents should be speaking louder about what's happening to our country and democracy. What do you say?

A nation of laws?

I'm an untrained layman, so correct me if I'm wrong...

If a sitting President can not be indicted for a crime and is subject only to impeachment in the Constitution then wouldn't that mean a sitting President could commit as many federal crimes as he wanted if he could somehow avoid impeachment?

Let's pretend Al Capone were our President. Couldn't he have his mob commit as many federal crimes as they wanted and if charged with those crimes he could pardon them all? And if there weren't enough votes in the Senate to convict our Al Capone President and remove him from office wouldn't his actions be legal? And then what would happen if our Al Capone President decided to claimed a fictitious national emergency and declared there would be no more federal elections until further notice? Legal?

Wouldn't that make us a nation of men not laws? Our Al Capone President, like a dictator, would be above the law. Then we really would be a nation of men, not laws.

...just asking...
