I ordered a new Subaru!

I haven't had a NEW car since 2006. I was lucky - I ordered it in May, just after Subaru re-started production on Imprezas. They keep having to halt production on certain models because of parts shortages. But I got my order in just after they opened up production again.

It's supposed to take 3-4 months to arrive.

Today, the dealer informed me that instead of it taking three months to arrive, it will arrive this month. That's a lot quicker than anticipated.

Anyway, I'm excited. I've been driving an old car and it constantly gives me issues. I am so excited to have a new and dependable car under warranty!

Did any of you see Rachel Maddow last night? She opened her show illustrating how hard it is to prove seditious conspiracy in court, with two cases from 1988 and 2010. In both cases, everyone who was charged in these "militia" groups not only were acquitted, they were given all their weapons back (the Feds confiscated arsenals, literal arsenals of weapons).

I started getting depressed that these motherfuckers would be acquitted as well, because in modern history, there's never been a successful prosecution of seditious conspiracy.

Then she pointed something out: the DOJ charged SIXTEEN people with seditious conspiracy related to January 6. And FOUR of them have already pleaded guilty, and they are cooperating.

Rachel Maddow is certain that the DOJ has the goods on these motherfuckers, because Garland is cautious and he would not have charged 16 people with seditious conspiracy knowing the recent modern history of failed prosecutions unless he was sure he could convict. Rachel Maddow is certain that convictions are likely.

I came away with some hope that those who pleaded guilty are going to nail the others. I came away with some hope that the new charges may also bring guilty pleas and cooperation to nail more motherfuckers.

Capitol attack panel to unveil new evidence against Trump at public hearings

As the justice department mounts parallel investigations into the Capitol attack, the select committee is hoping that the previously unseen evidence will leave an indelible mark on the American public about the extent to which Trump went in trying to return himself to the Oval Office.

“They’re important for setting a record for posterity, but they’re also important for jolting the American public into realizing what a direct threat we had coming from the highest levels of government to illegitimately install a president who lost,” Norman Ornstein, a political scientist and emeritus scholar at the conservative thinktank the American Enterprise Institute, said of the hearings.

The panel’s ambitions for the hearings are twofold, the sources said: presenting the basis for alleging Trump broke the law and placing the Capitol attack in a broader context of efforts to overturn the election, with the ex-president’s involvement as the central thread.

At their heart, the hearings are about distilling thousands of communications between top Trump White House aides and operatives outside the administration and the Trump campaign into a compelling narrative of events about the events of 6 January, the sources said.

In order to tell that story, the sources said, the select committee intends to have its senior investigative counsels reveal previously secret White House records, photos and videos that will be presented, in real time, to starkly illustrate the live witness testimony.

No? I haven't heard that anyone has resigned. Not one of them has a conscience?

Remember that several Capitol police resigned after Jan 6? They were also following orders. But they couldn't protect the Capitol and several of them were so ashamed of that fact that they quit.

I must be incredibly naive because I should think that failing to save children would be gut-wrenching.
