Excerpts:
This year alone, including Orlando, more than 6,200 Americans have lost their lives due to gun violence. It is a staggering toll as we near the half way mark for 2016. An incalculable loss for every family and community struck.
And yet, the United States Congress is fighting to debate and vote on only the most incremental reforms to reduce gun violence.
While enhanced background checks, closing gun show loopholes, and imposing no fly - no buy provisions are important, these steps represent a fraction of what we must do as a society to curb gun violence in our communities.

I received my first hide.
And I got it for saying something truthful and compassionate.
No snark. No anger. No name-calling. Just compassion and concern based upon observation of actual behavior.
And I said it in this protected group.
What I said is likely to be proved true in the next several weeks or months.
So, when does this primary end?
Has anyone else thought of the movie -- "The King of Hearts"?
Bernie will have to be an adult and speak for himself.
He will have to publicly concede and commit to campaigning for Hillary Clinton and against Donald Trump.
He won't do it, in my humble opinion. Not ever. That movement on his part would require an admission that his attacks against Clinton and the Democratic party were, at the very least, exaggerations.
He is imprisoned by his inability to change his mind about people and politics.
Bernie has been attacking the Democratic party for decades.
He isn't going to stop now. His fundamental resentment goes deeper than winning or losing a primary.
He has become too attached to his anger to let go of it. He wants to destroy the Democratic party and then recreate it in his own image.
He is being consumed by his own rage. I do not think that anyone, including President Obama and Secretary Clinton, will be able to talk him out of his self-destructive mission to destroy the Democratic party.
He doesn't seem to have objective close friends, who are concerned about his "obsessive" behavior and might be able to reason with him. I also see no inclination on the part of his wife Jane to intervene to end Bernie's self-contradictory "vendetta."
It seems that neither he nor anyone close to him sees the futility of his continuing to throw punches after the fight has been called in his opponent's favor.
I just received this email from Martin O'Malley:
Friends,
Yesterday I joined millions of Americans across the country by endorsing Hillary Clinton to be our next president.
The voters have spoken, and it is now time to unite our Party. I urge all of my friends and supporters to campaign for Secretary Clinton, and am committing my energies to doing the same.
Democrats, Independents and Republicans alike must come together to confront the dangerous threat to our democracy presented by Donald Trump.
We deserve better.
Together we can create an economy that works for all of us again. Together we can remind America that every citizen matters. Together we can keep the Democratic Party where it belongs- leading America towards a more progressive future.
Lets get to work,
Martin
