Today's Democratic Primary Talking Points- February 16th

1. Bernie needs to support Obama and use his monumental clout in the Senate (which they like to claim he has none when they speak of superdelegates) * 3 threads, 2 posters.

2. Where is the revolution?

3. Republicans want to run against Sanders.

Update: 4. Bernie Supporters... When are you going to actually do something with REAL change?

Update 2: 5. Stop Crying about the Establishment.

Update 3 * Bernie may actually be a tool of the establishment sent to bring Clinton down. .. Wow

Update 4: "One-issue candidate"

Continue to update as they come in...

It's easier to track this way as the hit pieces come in. And easier to know what to expect over the next few hours.

A Valid Question

I'm going to be delicate because similar sentiments were hidden by jury 4-3 in someone else's OP in GD-P today.

Is anyone else noticing that the same people are literally writing the same OP over and over every few hours, with just a new link or some words changed? There are three or four that every few hours will do the same exact thing. And if you challenge them in the comments you will just get the same answer to anything you say.

I came from another site and I haven't seen anything like this before. And running into those threads are the same cheerleaders with recs every time. There's a word for something like this and it rhymes with "flo-ordinated"

Am I nuts? Am I the only one that thinks that there's more to this?

Maybe people say so what, but I have not seen this before where people (who knows who or what cause they work for) seem to do this in conjunction.

But how will he pay for it!?!

Here is a good starting point to help them out next time they ask.

Some campaigns treat their supporters one way...

Others shove them out of the way...

0:18 is where it gets good

How many of us....

are volunteering in some way for the campaign?

I say this more as a rallying cry. If you are doing something for the campaign already, awesome. If not (and we have so so many supporters on DU) there is always something to do. Allow me to give a couple examples

1. Go to Bernie's website and find an event near you. There are still many states gathering signatures for Bernie to get on the ballot. You can also find phone bank parties where people host a group to make calls all night. Or you can host one yourself!

2. You can do the phonebanking privately from your own home as well. It is incredibly easy and a lot of fun (though you will talk to some grumpy people occasionally). You can pick the state to call but there is usually suggestions on the phonebanking site. Find it here: https://go.berniesanders.com/page/content/phonebank

3. You can e-mail info@berniesanders.com also to get the name of your state's coordinator to see if there are other events going on in your state. Expect a day or two wait, but all e-mails get answered. You can also make a post on here as we do have some people connected to the campaign (far more than me) that can be of some help.

Bottom line is that the majority of us work or are busy during the day. I don't feel like going home and making or monitoring calls for the campaign some days. But I must do it I tell myself. This campaign is about sacrifice and making this world better for all of us. So if you have not yet started volunteering, the time is now.

Grab your friends and family and let them know what they can do too. This is old fashioned grass roots work that you can do on your own without anyone telling you what to do and on YOUR time. Again, I understand that we all lead busy lives. But Bernie needs us. We do NOT want to wake up a few months from now wondering if there was more we could have done. Every person you reach that can hear our message is another potential voter. And these next 3-4 weeks are pretty much huge for the campaign.

Alright.... Now let's keep working hard for Bernie because he is doing his part for us!

* I am not a campaign official. I have been given a little more responsibility of late, but I started out from scratch. I am just someone who is trying to organize us a little better in our efforts here from DU

The horror of Bernie paying his interns less than $15 per hour!

Turns out, after some digging by snopes.com, he is the ONLY candidate to actually PAY his interns

Snopes offers the disclaimer that he may not be the only one, they just can't find any evidence to the contrary.

Shaun King re: John Lewis

via @shaunking

"It's absolutely no surprise to anyone in DC that John Lewis goes hard for the Clintons. He endorsed Hillary OVER Barack until Feb 28th.
11:20 AM - 11 Feb 2016 "

It shouldn't be a surprise. The content of his message was a surprise

Donors urge Clinton to sharpen message ahead of debate with Sanders

For at least the fifth time, campaigns do not act like this if they are confident in the road ahead. They see the same primary schedule we do. And since many have been told that Sanders cannot win much more going forward, why then the worry? Why the possibility of staff shakeup? It's because they aren't confident. But DU has a problem with reality based critiques of the former Secretary.

snip

Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton will try to mend her badly wounded campaign in a debate on Thursday with rival Bernie Sanders, an encounter many of her donors said would allow her to play a role that suits her - embattled underdog

Don't do this. People will see right through it. Nobody, literally nobody would believe her playing the underdog. She is still the odds on favorite to win by a decent amount. You can't pretend you aren't the favorite

Some donors said a growing sense of nervousness was setting in, however, especially after Sanders’ campaign reported raising more than $6 million in the 24 hours after his win.

The word "disappointed" came up several times during a conference call the campaign held on Wednesday with donors and fundraisers, said one Clinton supporter who was on the call.

Many donors said they thought one immediate task for the former secretary of state’s campaign would be to improve upon her messaging.

They should be nervous in the same vein that Jeb's donors were nervous. They put a ton of money in and they are getting an awful campaign to this point. A truly terrible performance, not by the countless volunteers, but by the candidate herself.

But there was a familiar feel to Clinton's flameout in New Hampshire, said critics of her campaign, as well as some major Obama donors who have yet to commit to her.

"It’s the same movie, all over again," said lead Obama fundraiser Kirk Dornbush, a San Francisco biotechnology executive who has not yet committed to a candidate.

"It’s 2008, running with the inevitability cloak and having that fail miserably."

Not all of her donors feel this way, but it's striking that it's out there. Against a 74 year old promiser of unicorns and ice cream dreams
