Interestingly, James Comey also happened to be in Dublin at the same time. I doubt they met though ! He was interviewed on Todayfm by Matt Cooper, who went to North Korea some years ago, to do that documentary with Denis Rodman.

Hillary Clinton has discussed gender equality affairs with the Taoiseach during a meeting in Dublin.

The former US secretary of state and presidential candidate is in the city ahead of being conferred with an honorary degree by Trinity College on Friday.

On Thursday she met with Taoiseach Leo Varadkar at Government Buildings.

The informal discussion came on the same day European Commission president Jean-Claude Juncker and the EU's chief Brexit negotiator Michel Barnier also held talks with Mr Varadkar in his Dublin offices.

A spokesman for the Taoiseach said: "Hillary Clinton was in Dublin on business today and paid a courtesy call to the Taoiseach.

"They had a wide ranging chat on a range of issues including world affairs and gender equality."

Mrs Clinton's visit coincides with a trip to the city by former FBI director James Comey, the man she effectively blames for torpedoing her presidential bid.

Mr Comey, who was subsequently fired by President Donald Trump, caused controversy in the final days of the 2016 campaign when he announced he was reopening a probe into Mrs Clinton's emails.

The ex-FBI chief will be answers questions on his new book at an event at the Irish Film Institute on Friday evening.

Hours earlier, Mrs Clinton will deliver a public lecture at Trinity.

She will then discuss her views on democracy, women in politics and the current challenges facing American society in a conversational event hosted by chancellor of the university and former president Mary Robinson.


She will then receive an honorary degree from the famous academic institution.

No Brexit deal without Ireland border agreement, warns Coveney as Juncker arrives in Dublin

Ireland’s deputy premier has warned the UK there will be no Brexit withdrawal deal without an agreement on the Irish border.

Ahead of a visit by European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker to Dublin, Tanaiste Simon Coveney indicated that a no-deal scenario was now being seriously contemplated within the EU.

“This is a question many people are asking,” he said.

Mr Coveney said the EU was standing firmly behind Ireland and its demand for legally binding assurances from the UK to ensure no return to a hard border on the island.

“We have been reassured over and over again that Ireland will not be left isolated here,” he said.

Mr Coveney added: “Let’s be very clear – there will be no withdrawal agreement, no transition agreement and no managed Brexit if the UK don’t follow through on their commitments.”

But the shape of that fall-back remains a sticking point, with the EU rejecting a UK contention that it should only be temporary, even if a broader agreement fails to materialise. On Wednesday, the European Parliament’s chief Brexit co-ordinator told MPs the UK plan for a temporary customs backstop was “not acceptable” and any fall-back option cannot be time-limited. Guy Verhofstadt said the Government’s position that the backstop of continuing UK alignment with the EU customs union would cease by the end of 2021 if no other solution was found left him “puzzled”.

Nunes, the FBI NY Field Office and Weiner's laptop

I don't think enough has been said about this, it's massive. To spell it out

1. Nunes says "Whistleblowers" came to "us" i.e House Intelligence Committee in "Late September 2016", about additional emails on Anthony Weiner's laptop. "Good FBI Agents" were the whistleblowers, clearly from the NY Field Office.

2. Think about that for a second. Nunes, the GOP and Trump campaign knew about Weiner's laptop a month before Comey.

3. He says "they" couldn't use it because it was "classified". This is clearly bullshit.

4. Why did it take a month for the NY Field Office agents to go to Comey ?

5. Why did the NY Field Office agents feel the need to go to Nunes BEFORE going to Comey ?

6. Why did they leave a month go by before going to Comey ?

7. Oh, and the Ranking member on the House Intelligence Committee, Adam Schiff, said Nunes never told him about this.

8. Is Nunes, by volunteering this to Ingraham (who has a whoa WTF moment), getting out in front of the story ? It didn't seem logical to include that in the discussion.

9. Nunes is saying the FBI Agents came to him. What if a combo of Guiliani and Kallstrom gave it to him, as they are the ones well connected to the NY FBI Field Office ?

10. The Big Picture is that the Trump Campaign got the NY Field Office agents to hold off on going to Comey, until less than two weeks before the Election.
