Magic Johnson reported to be part of group prepared to purchase Washington Commanders

Anyone but Dan Snyder!!!

Earvin "Magic" Johnson has joined a group led by Josh Harris bidding to own the Washington Commanders, sources confirmed to ESPN on Monday.

Johnson, the Basketball Hall of Famer and part owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers, was part of the Harris group when it failed to land the Denver Broncos last summer. Harris also owns the NBA's Philadelphia 76ers and the NHL's New Jersey Devils.

Washington owners Dan and Tanya Snyder announced their intention to sell the team in November. Forbes listed the value of the franchise at $5.6 billion.

With the NFL owners meeting in Phoenix starting Monday, there has been increased speculation over when a deal could be announced. Even if it's announced before next week's meetings, sources familiar with the process said the sale likely would not be approved until late May when the owners meet again.

Adam Thielen and the Vikings about to part ways

Very good career but it's the what have you done for my lately story, and the young lions have passed him by. I'm sure he'll catch on somewhere for another season or two, if he's still got some fire burning in him.

The Minnesota Vikings will release receiver Adam Thielen on Friday, according to a source, concluding a storied tenure for the Minnesotan who captured the hearts of fans throughout the region.

Born in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, and having played collegiately at Minnesota State Mankato, Thielen signed with the team in 2013 after serving as a tryout player at rookie minicamp. By the end of the 2022 season, he had more career catches (534) than any player in team history other than Cris Carter and Randy Moss, both of whom are members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

But as he approached his 33rd birthday, Thielen began to lose ground to younger players in the Vikings' offense. Over the final five games of last season, he ranked fourth in targets behind Justin Jefferson, T.J. Hockenson and K.J. Osborn.
