BTRTN: What Would Impeachment Really Look Like? Not Pretty...For Anyone.

Born To Run The Numbers pauses to contemplate what the United States might experience if Donald Trump became the first President removed from office through impeachment:

http://www.borntorunthenumbers.com/2018/04/btrtn-what-would-impeachment-really.html

Excerpts: "In short, Cohen appears to be patient zero for just about any and every area of possible Trump malfeasance. Pundits were salivating at the prospect that this could lead to a plea bargain and eyewitness evidence from Trump’s most intimate advisor outside his own family. Have smoking gun, will travel. In the grand liberal wet dream, Cohen would lead the Conga line of dunces who have served as Donald Trump’s enablers, fixers, thugs, campaign advisors and Cabinet Officers as they parade one by one in front of a Senate impeachment trial and sing their songs of money laundering, fraud, obstruction of justice, and the big “C,” – the cancer on this Presidency – collusion. When the roll call rolls and the bells toll in this Democratic fantasy, 68 Senators give Trump the thumbs down, and the President is measured for an orange jump suit in the Federal Confinement Resort and Spa in Cumberland, Maryland. The next day, tens of millions of Trump voters denounce the former President and admit to their neighbors that they had made a terrible mistake in voting for him. Beams of sunlight slice through the clouds and the United States of America reverts back to the precise cultural coordinates that had been in place on November 7, 2016.

Dream on, lefty..."

BTRTN: Trump, Comey, and the "I Alone Can Fix It" Syndrome

Born To Run The Numbers on what Comey and Trump have in common:

http://www.borntorunthenumbers.com/2018/04/btrtn-comey-trump-and-i-alone-can-fix.html

Excerpts: "I hear many people now saying that they’ve always felt that James Comey is a man of unquestioned integrity, honesty, and loyalty to the nation and the constitution. All that may be true. But if you convince yourself that your own opinion is more important than any policy, precedent, or peer, then the question is whether the truth as you see it is any different from the truth as Donald Trump sees it. Or, perhaps more simply, whether you are a man of high integrity and absolutely terrible judgment.

"Let some believe that he is the man of impeccable virtue who will save us all from the arrogant egomania of Donald Trump. I have a hard time forgetting the fact that he is the arrogant egomaniac who gave us all Donald Trump. What is creepy is that they actually have something terrifying in common. Both were placed in positions of extraordinary power, and both granted even more extraordinary latitude in the wielding of that power. Both seem to believe that when push comes to shove, decades of policy, principle, and precedent governing actions can and should be tossed aside, because they both believe one thing.

"I alone can fix it."

BTRTN: Head-On Collusion Course... Mueller vs. Putin

Born To Run The Numbers on "Manafort's Destiny:" Paul Manafort is intransigent, refusing to plea bargain with Mueller. Why?

http://www.borntorunthenumbers.com/2018/04/btrtn-head-on-collusion-coursemueller.html

Excerpts: "Still, though, somewhere in a conference room in the vicinity of Washington, D.C., investigators are working on each and every potential element of collusion, but a huge piece of the massive a jig-saw puzzle is missing. That is the cooperation of former Trump Campaign Chairman Paul Manafort...This is a guy who is absolutely refusing to cut a deal with Robert Mueller despite facing jail time that would last, should he survive, until the millennium when the Jetson family is no longer cartoon science fiction. Just about everybody he has worked with who is not named Trump or married to somebody named Trump has already flipped and is singing to Mueller like the saucy new cast of My Fair Lady, and they are no doubt offering up juicey deets on Manafort when not able to implicate the Big Stupid himself. Speculation that Manafort is sitting pretty with the promise of a pardon is easily dismissed by the reality that many of the allegations against him could be tried as state crimes, which are beyond the reach of a Presidential pardon. The mere optics alone on this guy are overwhelming: once he’s comfortably ensconced in a Federal White-Collar Crime Spa, expect a best seller entitled, 'If I Colluded.'"
