U.S. believes ISIS' bomb-making research includes new generation of explosives

Source: CBS News

Amid the bombed-out ruins of Mosul University, U.S. officials say they have uncovered evidence that the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) was developing a new type of bomb that could pass through an airport scanner undetected.

CBS News joined Iraqi Special Forces in Mosul just days after the hard-fought battle to recapture the University in January. It's long been believed that Mosul University was the center of the militants' bomb-making projects, using the school's equipment and labs.

Now, U.S. officials believe that research includes a new generation of more powerful explosives that could be concealed in a computer.

When ISIS overran Mosul in 2014, they also captured the city's international airport. And with it, all the modern security scanner and screening equipment necessary to test their new bombs.

Exclusive: Trump campaign had at least 18 undisclosed contacts with Russians - sources

Source: Reuters

Michael Flynn and other advisers to Donald Trumpís campaign were in contact with Russian officials and others with Kremlin ties in at least 18 calls and emails during the last seven months of the 2016 presidential race, current and former U.S. officials familiar with the exchanges told Reuters.

The previously undisclosed interactions form part of the record now being reviewed by FBI and congressional investigators probing Russian interference in the U.S. presidential election and contacts between Trumpís campaign and Russia.

Six of the previously undisclosed contacts described to Reuters were phone calls between Sergei Kislyak, Russia's ambassador to the United States, and Trump advisers, including Flynn, Trumpís first national security adviser, three current and former officials said.

Conversations between Flynn and Kislyak accelerated after the Nov. 8 vote as the two discussed establishing a back channel for communication between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin that could bypass the U.S. national security bureaucracy, which both sides considered hostile to improved relations, four current U.S. officials said.

During the July 2016 repub convention stuff started coming out on Manafort. When it first came out that Manafort had acted as a unregistered lobbyist for the disposed ruler in Ukraine I thought "Oh boy, going to see a perp walk soon". But not knowing how it works I was wrong. Finally started seeing reality come along and see it could take a long time. The Ukraine ledger entry listing Manafort as receiving payments. I thought that could be a hiccup in time since they would want to check the validity of that. But didn't really understand how long that could take. Or even if it was even actionable. His stepping down as campaign manager. Then the information about Manafort and the bank in Cyprus came out. I thought again getting closer.

Then in April when Rep. Mike Quigley went over there. I thought "okay they wouldn't be going over there and possibly stepping on any intel" if the FBI hadn't already been there. So it has to be near to seeing something happen in the public. At least in my mind but again a month later nothing confirmed. Bloomberg having a article saying "New York State has opened an investigation" yesterday. But nothing has been confirmed by any official.

Each time something like the above points in time have come out I get antsy and want to see something happening. But a end conclusion to even just the Manafort part could take a long time. Even when or if charges are brought (Possibility of a plea bargain, etc) any court date could be a long time off. How many charges and if any can or will be combined. All will be factors. Then add the length of a possible trial.

It sounds like multiple investigations of people associated with the campaign are going on concurrently. But no real confirmed info on the status of any other suspects in either collusion or other crimes like money laundering. So I am hoping they will come out like dominoes and fall in rapid succession. But that may not happen.

The main thing I take comfort in it being a drip drip is this may sink in to more peoples head that they need to gotv and vote democratic in 2018. Also all of this will help weaken dipshit and slow down or slow some of his and the repub's shit.

A Manafort shoe drop at Bloomberg News

"Manafort's Real-Estate Deals Said to Be Probed by N.Y.'s Top Cop"

"New York State has opened an investigation into the real-estate dealings of President Donald Trumpís former campaign manager, Paul Manafort, deepening the already intense legal scrutiny of the young administration.

The probe by New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, one of the most outspoken critics of the president, is in a preliminary stage, according to a person familiar with the matter who asked not to be named because the investigation isnít public. Manafort, who ran Trumpís campaign from April to August last year, has owned property in the Hamptons and Trump Tower in Manhattan.

Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. is also in the early stages of an investigation into Manafortís transactions, a person familiar with that probe said. Representatives for Schneiderman and Vance declined to comment."

This is still in the no comment/unconfirmed state.
