White Trump voters that voted for Obama twice aren't racist, they are Emotion Voters

Obama is a moving and charismatic speaker who delivered a powerful message of hope and change. He showed up and spoke to the rust belt. Those voters were hurting and embraced Obama's hopeful message. While Obama tried his best to rebuild infrastructure and got stymied by the GOP at every step, these rust belt voters didn't see much improvement.

Trump is also a charismatic speaker with a powerful message, but instead of a positive and hopeful message, Trump's message was one of fear and anger, very negatively charged.

These people voted for the candidate that made them react emotionally in both cases. They connected based on strong emotions relating to their position in life. They voted for the ones that made them FEEL something, be it positive or negative.

Yes, Trump appeals to the alt-right and bigots, racists, sexists, xenophobes, etc. But let's be fair here...that is NOT what all Trump voters are. If someone is a racist they are NOT going to vote for a black man for president not once, but twice.

It's ignorant to have the attitude that these voters that supported Obama and then voted Trump aren't welcome. They were Democratic voters and the Democratic Party LOST them. Instead of calling them names why not take a look at WHY the Democrats LOST them to someone so awful.

A word about all these threads implying white voters are racists

STOP IT!!!!

Nothing could be further from the truth and it is HIGHLY OFFENSIVE!!!!

While some of the people who voted for Trump ARE racists...all of the white people who voted for him are NOT. Millions of white people voted for Hillary AND Obama before her. If you are going to start a thread and say something about white or rural voters stop and consider how it would sound if you were writing it about black voters, muslim voters, hispanic voters, LGBT voters or any other group.

Regarding those white rust belt voters going for Trump...he promised to bring their jobs back. Yes, we all know it was a lie and he doesn't care, but those folks are DESPERATE to just survive. Perhaps you are fortunate enough to have never been homeless or not had food for your children. As someone who has been in those positions more than once and who understands rural voters (regardless of their race)...most of those people don't give a crap about race. They just want a good job so they can survive. Did they vote against their best interest? Of course they did! Should people talk about that and WHY it's happening? Yes! But for the love of all that is good can we PLEASE stop painting all white and rural people as racists? It's just NOT factual and it's bigoted to do it.

About NoGoodNamesLeft

Apparently if you don't care for Bernie Sanders or disagree with the incessant posts implying that all white people are racists you are not welcome on this site. Despite voting exclusively for Democrats for most of my life (I'm over 50 years old) I got relentlessly reported when I did not violate any rule simply because certain members did not like my viewpoint and wanted to censor me. There were a couple of the flags that I did deserve because I got so frustrated with being pig piled on when I stood up for what I honestly believe is right. My account was locked on February 26th. I emailed the administrators and have been ignored. Democrats cannot afford to alienate and silence people who vote for them. People disagree and that should be OK. The administrators need to pay closer attention to people who are serial post reporters. There ARE people on here who target people that disagree with them or accuse them of being trolls or right wingers and then get them banned. That is what happened to me. I'm not a troll or a conservative. I am a 50+ year old grandmother who is on the same side as everyone else on this site. It sure would be nice if the admins would actually review my account...it's been two months. If this how this site advocates for Democratic values and reaches out to voters...well, it's not doing a very dang good job.
