I'm beginning to think of her as the female Chris Christie. So, what "high-powered" position does she get in the Trump Administration as a reward for her leading role in making said Administration possible?
Jury remains deadlocked in ex-South Carolina cop's murder trial

By Harriet McLeod CHARLESTON, S.C.
Jurors considering a murder charge against a white South Carolina former police officer who shot and killed a fleeing black motorist last year told a judge for a second time on Friday they were unable to reach a verdict.
Jurors were deliberating for a third day in the case against ex-North Charleston patrolman Michael Slager, 35. His shooting of 50-year-old Walter Scott after an April 2015 traffic stop, captured in a bystander's cellphone video, intensified debate in the United States over racial bias by police.
The jury foreman said one member of the panel was the holdout.
"I cannot in good conscience consider a guilty verdict," that juror told state Judge Clifton Newman in a note, adding, "at the same time, my heart does not want to tell the Scott family that the man who killed their son, brother and father is innocent."

Oh FFS, drop the fucking Hamlet routine and tell the judge you're a racist, Trumpie!
Extreme Tornado Outbreaks Are Becoming More...Extreme!
December 1st, 2016
Climate Central's Andrea Thompson writes:
Outbreaks of tornadoes where multiple tornadoes form over an area in just a few hours or days are responsible for most of the devastating destruction caused by severe weather, and a new analysis has reached a worrying conclusion about the worst of these outbreaks.
Outbreaks with many tornadoes are becoming more extreme, particularly the very worst outbreaks, according to a study published Thursday in the journal Science. When researchers looked into what might be causing the trend and whether it could be linked to expected changes in storm environments due to climate change they found the opposite of what they expected, pointing to the need for more research on the matter.
The remnants of a home destroyed by one of the many tornadoes that raked across Alabama during the April 2011 Super Outbreak
"This study raises new questions about what climate change will do to severe thunderstorms and what is responsible for recent trends," study co-author Michael Tippett, a Columbia University professor, said in a statement.
If climate change is causing these trends, they could be expected to continue into the future, but if natural climate cycles are at play, that could mean a return to earlier levels of tornado activity.

Conway names Trump's 4 likely secretary of state picks

Kellyanne Conway identified the four candidates on President-elect Donald Trumps short list for secretary of state Friday.
Trumps transition team said the president-elect had whittled his list down to four this week but refused to highlight which candidates were in contention outside of the two most public names: 2012 GOP nominee Mitt Romney and former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani.
We publicly have said there are probably four people right now that have been the narrowed down choices, Conway, a senior adviser to the president-elect, told Fox News. That includes Gen. [David] Petraeus and Sen. Bob Corker from Tennessee. Obviously, Governor Romneys still in the mix. People have been talking about Mayor Giuliani.
Trump suggested in a Fox News interview with Ainsley Earhardt broadcast earlier Friday that almost all of his Cabinet picks will be revealed next week. But Conway said the decision cant be rushed.

There are unconfirmed reports that both David Duke and Charles Manson are devastated to not be included on the list.
Russia accuses Ukraine of sabotaging Trump

A top Russian official is accusing the Ukrainian government of undermining Donald Trumps presidential campaign by trashing him on social media and disseminating dirt on one of his close associates.
A spokeswoman for Russias Foreign Ministry on Thursday contended that the Ukrainian government over the summer damaged Trumps campaign by implicating his then-campaign chief Paul Manafort in a corruption scandal involving a pro-Russian Ukrainian political party funded by oligarchs.
Ukraine seriously complicated the work of Trumps election campaign headquarters by planting information according to which Paul Manafort, Trumps campaign chairman, allegedly accepted money from Ukrainian oligarchs, Maria Zakharova said at a press briefing, according to a transcript of her remarks posted on the Foreign Ministrys website. All of you have heard this remarkable story, she told assembled reporters.
The renewed scrutiny of Manaforts dealings in Ukraine comes at an awkward time for the veteran operative and for Trump. As the president-elect works to assemble his foreign policy team, his stance toward Russia and its neighbors is being closely watched by the international community.

Los Angeles cops cleared in death of homeless black man

LOS ANGELES (AP) Three Los Angeles police officers who fatally shot a black homeless man on Skid Row last year will not face criminal charges because they acted in self-defense, according to a report released Thursday by the district attorney.
Prosecutors determined that the shooting of Charly "Africa" Keunang was justified because he grabbed a rookie officer's gun during a struggle that ended when he was shot five times March 1, 2015.
"The officers' reasonable assessments of the threat posed by Keunang were as grave and imminent as the officers perceived," prosecutors wrote in a memo. "Keunang posed a high likelihood of killing officers and civilians at the very instant that he was shot."
Officers were responding to reports that Keunang, 43, a Cameroon national, had threatened another man living on the street in the section of the city teeming with homeless people.
A lawyer representing Keunang's family in a $20 million lawsuit disputed that the homeless man ever had hold of an officer's gun. Attorney Joshua Piovia-Scott said the officers who were trained to de-escalate conflicts instead initiated a confrontation that led to the killing.

Statue of Jesus only thing left standing in house burned by Tennessee wildfire

By Doug Criss, CNN
(CNN) The pictures coming out of the Gatlinburg, Tennessee, wildfires are just devastating. Acres of woodland blackened. Row upon row of homes and businesses reduced to ashes.
But a TV crew with CNN affiliate WVLT spotted something of a miracle amid all that destruction. On Wednesday, reporter Kelsey Leyrer and her team captured footage of what they saw at a house out in Sevier County. It was a statue of Jesus -- covered with soot and ashes, but still standing. It was the only thing left after the home burned to the ground.
The Jesus statue was the second religious item this week that survived the wildfires. Earlier this week Isaac McCord, an employee at the Dollywood theme park, says he found a partially burned page from the Bible's book of Joel. The part of the passage that's readable, from Joel's first chapter reads, "O LORD, to thee will I cry: for the fire hath devoured the pastures of the wilderness, and the flame hath burned all the trees of the field."

Russia: Space cargo ship has crashed due to a malfunction

MOSCOW (AP) An unmanned Russian cargo space ship crashed Thursday en route to the International Space Station due to an unspecified malfunction, the Russian space agency said.
Roscosmos said in a statement that the Progress MS-04 cargo craft crashed at the altitude of 190 kilometers (118 miles) over the remote Russian Tyva region that borders Mongolia. It says most of the space ship's debris burnt up as it entered the atmosphere.
The Progress lifted off as scheduled at 8:51 p.m. (1451 GMT) from Russia's space launch complex in Baikonur, Kazakhstan, to deliver 2.5 metric tons of fuel, water, food and other supplies. It entered an orbit nine minutes later and was set to dock with the space station on Saturday.
Roscosmos said the craft was operating normally before it stopped transmitting data 383 seconds after the launch. The Russian space agency would not immediately describe the cause of the malfunction, saying its experts were looking into it.

That could just as easily have been a manned mission with Americans on board. Russian technology is crap!
I am Sick and Tired of Hearing this "Coastal Party" Bullshit
Every fucking time Democrats lose an election, we go through a Rending Of Garments ritual, where we'll never---never!---win again.
Now, I readily acknowledge that, with Donny Boy, we actually MIGHT never win another election, 'cause there may not BE another election, because Orange Julius Caesar maybe starts World War III. But, in the unlikely event that doesn't happen, of course we'll win again! Demography is destiny, jadies and lentlemen!
Oh yeah, as for this "coastal" nonsense, a six-pack of beer to anybody who can tell me what oceans Nevada, Colorado, New Mexico, Minnesota, Illinois and Vermont border on.
