MSNBC Shakes Up Daytime Programming, Taps NBCs Katy Tur, Hallie Jackson to Anchor

I still don't watch MSNBC anymore, really found don't need it.

*************That said, though, does anyone know what happened with & to Thomas Roberts?*****************************

NBC News’ Katy Tur has been selected to anchor MSNBC’s 2 P.M. weekday hour, at least through the first 100 days of Donald Trump‘s presidency. Likewise, NBC’s Hallie Jackson has been selected to anchor the 10 A.M. hour.

NBC News Washington Bureau Chief Ken Strickland confirmed the moves in an internal memo obtained by Variety. “More to come soon,” Strickland promised.

Tur in particular benefited from a raised profile during the election, when she was constantly attacked by Donald Trump while covering his rallies. “You’re not reporting it, Katy,” Trump pointed and yelled at Tur in one typical example.

Thomas Roberts, the previous 2 P.M. hour anchor, was quietly pulled from anchoring duties in December. Meanwhile, previous 10 A.M. hour host Craig Melvin has been hosting the 1 P.M. hour.

In a tweet, Jackson also announced that she had been promoted to NBC News White House correspondent.

Matt Taibbi's New Book: 'Insane Clown President' Watch Taibbi discuss his new campaign trail

diary on 'Democracy Now!'

Insane Clown President, my new book about the 2016 presidential campaign, comes out today, January 17th. I talked about the book with longtime friends Amy Goodman and Juan Gonzalez of Democracy Now! this morning; you can watch that above.

Matt Taibbi on President Trump and How America Got It So Wrong
Journalists and politicians blew off the warning signs of a Trump presidency – now, we all must pay the price
A quick note about the book, which is published by Spiegel & Grau and brilliantly illustrated by Rolling Stone's own Victor Juhasz:
Covering the presidential election for Rolling Stone is one of the unique jobs in the world, a peculiar responsibility passed from generation to generation – like being the Dread Pirate Roberts. Throughout my time at the magazine, I've never not been conscious of the tradition.

Trump nominee scandal puts GOP plan to kill Obamacare in serious jeopardy

The hunt to bag and eliminate at least one of President-elect Donald Trump's cabinet members is running out of time. But the Democrats hoping to prove they still have some clout on Capitol Hill just got a big assist from the oldest and most effective ally any political combatant can hope for: Scandal. And that's bad news for a one of Trump's appointees who just happens to start confirmation hearings Wednesday.

The battle over presidential cabinet appointments is always a partisan battle. But partisan differences are never a good enough reason to publicly nix an appointee. Some kind of illegal act or an investigation into an alleged illegal act is just about the only thing that does the trick. And new allegations against Trump's HHS Secretary-Designate Tom Price have come just in time for Democrats on the hunt.
Price, who has been a Member of Congress for 12 years, is suddenly under scrutiny. CNN reported that he bought up to $15,000 worth of a medical device maker and then introduced a bill that would have protected or at least delayed new regulations that would have harmed the company's bottom line.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer jumped on the story Tuesday and told reporters that Price "may have broken the law." Price's office says the investment was made by a fund manager without Price's specific knowledge, but the question is: Are Price and his nomination really in jeopardy?

Majority of Americans believe Russia interfered with election: New NBC-WSJ poll

A majority of Americans believes that Russia interfered in the 2016 election, a new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll has found.

That finding shows substantial public acceptance of the U.S. intelligence community's conclusion about the hacking of Democratic Party computers. President-elect Donald Trump, who takes office Friday, has only grudgingly accepted that finding while accusing intelligence officials of leaking unflattering information about him.

Trump Comments Send Dollar Reeling

The dollar slid to a one-month low Tuesday after President-elect Donald Trump described the currency as “too strong” in an interview.

The WSJ Dollar Index, which measures the U.S. currency against 16 others, fell 1.2% to 91.09, its lowest point since Dec. 8. The dollar was down nearly 1% against the Japanese yen and Mexican peso.

In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Mr. Trump said the U.S. dollar was already “too strong” in part because China holds down its currency, the yuan. “Our companies can’t compete with them now because our currency is too strong. And it’s killing us," he said.

Mr. Trump also criticized part of the House Republicans’ corporate-tax plan, known as border adjustment. The plan to tax imports and exempt exports is also expected to be a boost to the dollar.

The comments have forced some investors to rethink their expectations that Mr. Trump will quickly introduce fiscal stimulus and cut taxes.

“The market generally still expects these policies to come into place at some point, but whether or not they come in the next 3 months or 12 months is the question,” said Brian Daingerfield, a macro strategist at RBS Securities. Some analysts expect Mr. Trump to give more clarity on his economic plans during Friday’s inauguration.

“Any indications on tax reform or infrastructure spending are going to be seen as a positive for the dollar,” said Mr. Daingerfield.

Emerging-market currencies rallied Tuesday. The dollar fell 1% against the Chinese yuan in offshore trading, 1.6% against the South Korean won and 0.9% against the Singapore dollar.

The British pound was up sharply against the dollar, rising 2.8%, after a speech from British Prime Minister Theresa May. She conceded the U.K. would leave the European Union’s tariff-free single market, but said she aimed for the freest possible trade in goods and services with the EU.

Anonymous Finally Breaks Their Silence, Just Made Brutal Threat To Trump

Anymous finally broke its silence over our country’s 45th President Donald Trump following his election. The tipping point just may have been the crazy way he attacked both Civil Rights icon John Lewis and sitting (!) CIA Director John Brennan. Stated Trump about John Brennan through his infamous Twitter account recently, ‘Outgoing CIA Chief, John Brennan, blasts Pres-Elect Trump on Russia threat. Does not fully understand.’ Oh really, couldn’t do… much worse – just look at Syria (red line), Crimea, Ukraine and the build-up of Russian nukes. Not good! Was this the leaker of Fake News?”

Anonymous clearly had enough, and decided to chime about Trump using Twitter handle YourAnonCentral. Stated Anonymous, “@realDonaldTrump you have financial and personal ties with Russian mobsters, child traffickers, and money launderers.” Later they added, “This isn’t the 80’s any longer, information doesn’t vanish, it is all out there. You are going to regret the next 4 years.” They continued, “We could care less about Democrats attacking you @realDonaldTrump, the fact of the matter is, you are implicated in some really heavy shit..” Added Anonymous, “Roy Cohen and your daddy aren’t here to protect you anymore.” Concluded Anonymous, “Oh and please tell your interns not to waste money hitting us with your Moldavian bot farm, stay frosty @realDonaldTrump.” Do you think Anonymous struck fear into Trump’s heart?

Manchin Again: Dem Senator: Wrong and Hurtful To Call Trump Illegitimate,

Plays Into Russia’s Hands

Democratic West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin criticized his fellow party members Monday morning, arguing that calling president-elect Donald Trump illegitimate and not attending his inauguration was exactly what the Russians wanted.

“When they keep talking about non-legitimacy, that bothers me from this standpoint here; first of all, there is no indication whatsoever that any votes were tampered with, any voting machines were tampered with whatsoever anywhere in the United States,” he said on CNN’s New Day.

“The intent of the Russians has always been– under the Soviet control back in the ’70s they were always trying to be involved and influence our elections. We’ve never seen it to this degree… they’ve really gone more aggressively this time than ever before. They weren’t successful,” he continued.

So all of this discord that we see going on between congressmen not attending, people basically saying he is not legitimate, basically then the Russians have accomplished what they tried to accomplish,” Manchin argued. “I just think it’s wrong and it’s hurtful for the United States of America.”

Personally, I think the Dems & others who say Trump does not understand the dangers of Russia are a

little clueless about what Trump understands or doesn't. Trump completely understands but he sees Putin & the way Putin governs Russia as the best way to govern. Trump thinks it is a waste of time to have to deal with Congress or any of our governmental agencies.

He wants to say we do this & we do it just like how he dealt with his businesses. He also likes how Putin has enriched himself since he became the leader of Russia.

Trump totally admires Putin, he loves how the guy governs. Nobody knows what Trump is going to do. He is 100% unpredictable except for the fact everyone knows you can criticize him & you are going to get a reaction on his little twitter toy.

The only prediction I would make about him is that he is probably the most dangerous guy this nation has ever put in the White House because of his temperament, lack of knowledge, his total disregard for any civility, lack of honesty & all of the apparently personal issues this man has.
