I don't know if I can ever trust close races where Dems

under-perform expectations and lose by a slim margin. Gives me a knot in my stomach to think we're going to be forced to accept potentially illegitimate losses and that talking about it would make us seem as crazy as the Right who think there's millions of illegal voters.

Hey guys - new-ish member, long time visitor

Hi guys,

I'm new to the membership aspect of DU but I've been enjoying your guys' posts since before 2012's election.

I felt compelled to sign up on the day of this last election because I needed to get my thoughts out on the surprising loss but as you all know, the site was crippled at the time.

Since I haven't read any posts related to the loss aside from "Hillary wasn't a good candidate" and the obviously true Russia meddling, I wanted to get my theory out there as well -

Anyone remember when Trump urged his voters in the swing states to vote in person after they sent in their mail-in ballots? Does our election system even have a capacity that can void 100,000's of thousands of mail-in ballots in time to not be counted when the Trump voters go to the polls in person on the day of the vote, let alone right before the polling center closes?

That was my first thought when I saw Trump say that live on TV. My mouth dropped because I knew that if they listened and did that, he would sweep all those swing states without question and it would be too late to void those already counted mail-ins. Has anyone else covered that theory on this site? I haven't heard a single person on TV mention it either... and it's been burning in the back of my mind ever since. Is that a possibility or am I ignorant on how the vote counting process works?

Lastly, I was feeling broken that with all of our intelligence resources, it didn't do anything to stop a treasonous win, and was beginning to think it was a deeper coup that reached into the FBI as well.

Then a month or so later I remember someone posted on this forum in December~early January that they had a long time friend they grew up with who now worked in the FBI. She mentioned that her FBI agent friend said "baby, this is going to make Watergate look like child's play" or something along those lines. Whoever it was, they were right, and I wanted to say thanks for sharing the uplifting story that turned out to be truer than I could imagine.
