I was helping my (step) child with her homework last night and it was all about the civil rights movement and Jim Crow laws in the country. Being in Iowa, I expect that sort of lesson to be banned very soon. Although the school board in this district is still relatively progressive, so that should help.
A rant from a step parent.
The step parent is me. Like many people, I met a woman, fell in love and married her. She had a child from a previous relationship and quite frankly, when I found out about that I was hesitant to continue our relationship. Not because of any morality or anything like that but because I was not sure of my ability to raise a kid, especially in today's world. Obviously, we continued our relationship and got married. And the child has one dad. Me.
That's why when Marjorie Taylor Greene said her stupid shit to that adoptive mother recently, I lost it. There are many young people out there who are being raised by adoptive parents and are doing very well. Better than mtg in fact.
Now I certainly am not perfect. I have mostly done factory and mining type of work and the wife is in health care. We have worked hard and are trying to do right by the child. She's 14 and acts 14. It isn't easy but we soldier on. I am as good a parent as most birth parents, maybe even better. So that bitch in congress should walk back her remarks. She won't. I think that says a hell of a lot more about her unfitness to inhabit earth than it does about those of us who are raising kids who were not originally ours. Fuck you mtg.
Sorry about the profanity but she just brings out the worst in me. And thank you for allowing me to vent.
Question about the "woke beer" war
I think everyone with half a brain realizes that it's just bullshit to rile up the eighties, egged on by fox noise. But my question is, does Anheuser Busch still advertise on the station that is leading the alleged war on them? And if so, shouldn't the noise channel turn down the money since they are so hell bent on people not drinking the beer in question?
Oh, wait, that would actually take principles and the repukes have none. My mistake.
From the mouths of babes...
Ok she's not really a baby, but earlier today I was sitting in the living room watching a news program and my 14 year old daughter came downstairs, poured a bowl of cereal and saw what I was watching. Then she said. " That trump is a dirty bastard." I am sure she's heard me say that a time or two or 7000, so I couldn't really scold her for cursing. But this child really dislikes tfg. She's Asian, in case I didn't mention that and she always says he's a racist bleep. And, when she was younger she was in a summer camp which did a trip to Chicago for an end of summer reward. The kids booed when they went past trump tower.
I suppose I should set a better example and stop cussing when tfg is on TV, but it isn't easy. But for her sake, I'll try.

He was masterful when talking about Social Security and Medicare, two issues which are personal to me. He's just tearing them a new one on each and every issue. And McCarthy looks like he has a permanent stomach ache.
Since repukes are hell bent on investigating something
Or someone, here's something they can investigate. The NFL annually has head coaching openings and annually hires more white guys than African American guys. And the white guys are often guys who got fired from earlier jobs. The reason is simple. The owners of NFL teams are rich white guys and they sure aren't going to
hire too many minorities.
But that's also why congress won't investigate them. And yes, I realize there are many better things to spend tax payer money on but aren't nearly all repuke investigations a waste of time and money? I mean a private citizens laptop? C'mon man.
Note to ESPN radio
I was listening to sports talk radio earlier today, mostly because I like sports and commercial radio in this area is hot garbage, besides the fact that I have an older vehicle which is not equipped with internet. Anyway, the hosts were talking about Brittney Greiner' release. One of the hosts mentioned that her "partner" was with President Biden when he announced Greiner's freedom. I started yelling at the radio that ,"The woman is Greiner's wife!" Sounds like maybe this fella isn't quite "woke" yet. I do not remember the hosts name right now, but him and another guy were subbing for the regular host.
Score one for the good guys
In Iowa's eighty first congressional district, election denier and obvious repuke, Luana Stoltenberg was originally declared the winner on election night. However, after noticing some discrepancies in some absentee ballots, a recount was ordered and lo and behold, Democrat Craig Cooper actually managed to eke out a six vote victory.
The 81st district is mostly located in Northwest Davenport and I believe tends to lean repuke. And our County Auditor, who I think was forced to order a recount is a repuke. So anyway, good guys gain a seat in the Iowa House. For more info, one could likely go to www.kwqc.com or any of the local TV station websites. The local newspaper has a paywall so don't go there.
So when did this (once great) state become part of the confederacy?
I mean the whole state is red except the Iowa City/Cedar Rapids corridor and part of the DesMoines area. And even there, repukes got elected. It may be time to move to Illinois as I live on the border and have many relatives there.
Voted early today
Very shortly after the polls opened. And even at 7:15 am, there was a steady stream of people. I guess a lot of people were voting before they went to work, and a few of them were older folks, like me, who wake up early. Anyway, I had zero problems voted entirely Democratic, and noticed something. Every race had the repuke candidates listed first. DeJear comes before Reynolds alphabetically, so they can't claim alphabetical order. I suppose the repukes may be counting on people being in a hurry and not paying attention. If so, it didn't work with me.
