I was going to write a sarcastic take on Trump's "The only good Democrat..." retweet.

I realized that anything I'd write probably would get deleted by the mods. Then I came around to the point of view that my hypothetical post probably should have been deleted.

Trump's retweet was full-on evil. Anyone who needs more convincing of that is as bad as he is.

Well, I'm off to work tomorrow after a 2-month leave of absence.

It's a factory in a northern burb of NYC. Things are not nearly as good as I would like them to be, but it looks like they're as good as they're gonna get. The plant has actually been in operation the whole time (we make infection control products). I hear fairly good things about the use of PPE and distancing from several sources, but I'll just have to see for myself.

I've been tested for an active infection and got a "not found." I did the antibody test on Friday and am expecting a result this week. It's a long shot, but if I've got the antibodies, it would be like winning the lottery. Definitely worth an investment of a blood draw.

Just in: negative on the antibodies. Too bad.

It's always possible that I'll show up and the place will be FUBAR and that's it for me and them. I'm hopeful that won't happen.

"Normal" is a fiction we agree on so we can deal with people we don't know.

Turns out, all you need to establish a new normal is for some authority figure to say, "You know those thoughts and urges and beliefs you kept hidden because you thought people would think you're a dirtbag? Well, let 'em out. You'll have lots of company."

If video were to surface of Trump actually having sex with 14-year-old kids, what are the odds that child molestation would become the new normal for the Deplorables?

It is pretty clear that everyone who isn't full-on delusional sees Trump for who he is now.

We have to move forward with the knowledge that everyone who supports him is, for whatever reason, OK with a bull in the china shop at the head of our government.

How you can see those people as anything but evil or nihilistic is beyond me.

How about this for a scam?

You want to run a cruise so you retain a firm to do instant testing on the arriving passengers. Only people with clean tests can board. Everybody's happy. They can have a fun, relaxed cruise, just like the good old days.

Here's the kicker: the test is a scam. It gives everybody a clean bill of health. Oh, you could put in a few ringers to get flagged as positives and to be escorted out in tears by security, just to build credibility.

When it's all over and people start getting sick, they find the waiver they signed is ironclad and they have no legal recourse whatsoever. Besides you've has blown town and are nowhere to be found.

A question about Zoom videoconferencing, Safe Driving Mode

I'm doing tech support for a person who, as part of her job, is beginning to conduct online classes on Zoom. The clientele is a mixed bag of skills and devices, so tech support is a bit of a challenge, although things are actually going pretty well. I think if I do this a few more months I could talk Edith Bunker through a safe landing of a 747.

We have one client who has the nagging problem of losing video and audio. Their device is an iPhone 11. Zoom has a safe driving mode where video is disabled and the microphone becomes push-to-talk only. I noticed that there was a mention on the Net that some Android versions of Zoom can automatically enter safe driving mode -- sort of like the way Wayz detects when your device is in motion and won't let you use it until you pinky-swear that you're not the driver. I don't see that on my Android tablet or on my iPhone 5.

It caught my eye that the one client with problems is the only one accessing Zoom while riding in a car. Anyone have an Android or a late-model iPhone with Zoom that has that feature?

Trump has completely painted himself into a corner with his no-mask-on-me policy.

If he starts wearing one now, it's an admission that things are worse. If he doesn't while all his staff do, it's a pretty open admission that he doesn't care about their safety.
