I've been driven inexorably toward these conclusions about the Deplorables:
1. They're untroubled by Trump's racism because they're racists.
2. They're untroubled by Trump's fascism because they're fascists.
3. They're untroubled by Trump's antisemitism because they're anti-semites.
4. They're untroubled by Trump's treatment of women as property because they believe women are property.
5. They're untroubled by Trump's lack of religious beliefs, because they don't believe either, not even the Evangelicals.
6. They're untroubled by Trump's connection with Putin because they want the world to be the way Putin wants it.
Are we prepared for Elizabeth Warren to be revealed as the worst human on the face of the earth?
Because that's what the Republicans are going to do. Have we gotten smart enough to not carry their water for them this time around?
Why this shutdown is scarier than the others.
In the game of "chicken" drivers race towards each other vying to see which one's nerve fails first and swerves to prevent the likely fatal collision. The idea, of course, is that one of the drivers will "chicken out" and they both live. There's no benefit to be had if both die.
However -- what if there's a third party that wins if that happens? That third party would be motivated to, say, tamper with brakes or steering gear so that chickening out becomes impossible and there's a horrendous head-on crash.
What if that third party is Putin?
