Rustynaerduwell
Rustynaerduwell's JournalI don't know if anyone has pointed this out about the Rittenhouse verdict.
It implies that, if, at the moment an altercation started, someone close by shot Rittenhouse and killed him, they would have been found not guilty for the same reasons he was.
Stand your ground and the Rittenhouse defense in a nutshell:
"I shot you with the gun I carried because I was afraid you'd take it from me and shoot me with it ".
Is that about right?
Why nuke the filibuster now?
Because the Republicans will do it as soon as they can. That's why. Do we need another reason?
Thank you TLP. Every candidate going against a Trump guy should use this line:
"There's a reason he's Donald Trump's candidate". Brilliant.
Is it possible that the violence of the mob on Jan 6th is what convinced Pence
to do the right thing? Had the same number of people protested peacefully outside the gates, without protesting, maybe praying- would Pence have played it differently? Could he have? What about the collective insanity that is the Republican Party? Does anyone think they would have defied the coup once ignited? Do you think Pence did not consider this? The coup was stopped dead in its tracks as soon as the first window was smashed. What if no windows were smashed that day?
It just struck me how badly Trumpism did on September 14th, even if it was California.
Only a third of the voters rejected Newsom. Less than half of those voters picked one of the Trumpiest of Trumpists- endorsed by the man himself- Larry Elder. That's less than 15% of the voters. So, 85% of voters ignored or rejected Trump's guy. And on a recall vote, no less, when the more passionate the base is on any side, the more of the base will turn out. Am I missing something basic here, or did the Trumpublican, in practical terms, get third party numbers?
If the election was stolen then the insurrection was justified.
That is why the Repubs don't want a 1/6 commission. In order to deny the legitimacy of the revolt they must admit the legitimacy of the election. That is why they try ro make Antifa the culprit and Ashli Babbitt a hero. Defending the actions of the crowd would lose them their credibility. Defending the election process would lose them Donald Trump. A 1/6 commission may implicate them in their actions that day, but it would certainly implicate them for the continued insurrectionist beliefs of today. it would expose them as the traitors they are, not just the instigators of that day.
I'm seriously beginning to think that MTG is on a downward cycle that will lead to her committing
an outwardly violent act. It is her sense of reality justifies her actions and it is a sense of reality that civilized people do not share. I truly fear she is a danger to those around her.
"I blame the President for closing that fuel line from Canada"
I saw this on Facebook. How do we deal with such ignorance?
When you can't tell reality from satire
