While Biden maintains a lead against Trump in almost every general election poll, the president's base doesn't look keen to leave Trump.

After watching the RNC last night and the respective speakers, I doubt his base will leave him in any significant way. Independents and voter turnout overall will maintain Biden's lead.

What I saw last night was pro-theocracy, pro-narcissist, pro-war w/Iran, pro-racist, and definitely PRO-CORPORATE WELFARE. That was the smoke and mirrors behind the socialist Marx bullshit. They want to continue their insane tax cuts and GROW INEQUITY.

I say we can win this thing. The craziest moment for me was Trump's girlfriend and the racist couple from St. Louis It is hard to imagine those elements appeal to Independents to any great extent.

What did you all think?.

An RNC Speaker Said Cops Would Be 'Smart' to Racially Profile Her Own Son

"Statistically, my brown son is more likely to commit a violent offense over my white sons," anti-abortion activist Abby Johnson said in a YouTube video earlier this year.

Protests erupt after Kenosha police shoot Black man

In a video, three officers could be seen shouting and pointing their weapons at the man. As the man opened the driver’s side door and leaned inside, one officer grabbed his shirt from behind and then fired into the vehicle.

By Associated Press Updated Aug 24, 2020, 7:58am CDT

KENOSHA, Wis. — Police in Kenosha shot and wounded a Black man, apparently in the back, after responding to a call about a domestic dispute, setting off a night of protests and unrest in which officers fired tear gas and demonstrators apparently hurled objects back at them and set fire to parked cars.

The shooting happened about 5 p.m. Sunday and was captured on cellphone video that was posted online. In that clip, which was taken from across the street, the Black man, who was later referred to by the governor as Jacob Blake, walks from the sidewalk around the front of his SUV to his driver-side door as officers follow him with their guns pointed and shout at him. As Blake opens the door and leans into the SUV, an officer grabs his shirt from behind and opens fire while Blake has his back turned.

Seven shots can be heard, though it isn’t clear how many struck Blake or how many of the three officers who were at the scene fired shots. During the shooting, a Black woman can be seen screaming in the street and jumping up and down.

Blake was taken to a Milwaukee hospital and was in serious condition, the police department said in a news release which didn’t refer to him by name. The three officers were placed on administrative leave, as is standard practice in any officer-involved shooting

Nearly 700 Protests Planned for Saturday at Post Offices Across Country as DeJoy Slammed for Defense

by Julia Conley, staff writer

As of Friday afternoon, more than 650 demonstrations were planned as part of "Save the Post Office Saturday," a national day of action in which people across the U.S. will demand that President Donald Trump and Postmaster General Louis DeJoy end their assault on the U.S. Postal Service. Demonstrations will begin at 11:00 am local time.

The number of planned protests at hundreds of post offices grew as DeJoy testified before the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee on Friday, telling lawmakers he has "no intention" of returning hundreds of mail sorting machines that have been decommissioned in recent weeks, severely cutting postal workers' ability to deliver mail quickly. The postmaster general claimed the machines are not needed.

The removal of machines in battleground states including Florida, Pennsylvania, and Michigan will have serious implications for the general election in November, civil rights advocates have warned, as many Americans—particularly Democratic voters—plan to vote by mail due to the coronavirus pandemic.

This week, DeJoy announced he was suspending changes to mail operations until after the November election to "avoid even the appearance of any impact on election mail," but made clear that he has no plans to return mailboxes and sorting machines that were removed or restore overtime hours that he cut.

Will justice finally be done for Emmett Till? Family hope a 65-year wait may soon be over

Not a day has been spent in jail nor a penny paid in compensation for the brutal murder of a 14-year-old boy in Mississippi that helped spark the civil rights movement

Thelma Wright Edwards knows this is the last chance for justice for Emmett Till. The next few weeks and months will determine whether there will ever be closure for her beloved cousin “Bobo”, as the family affectionately call the child.

The Guardian has learned that a reinvestigation of the boy’s murder that has been carried out by the FBI over the past three years could be wrapped up in weeks. For Thelma and the rest of the Till family, a decades-long struggle for justice is fast approaching its conclusion.

In August, it will be 65 years since the battered and bloated body of the 14-year-old Emmett Till was fished from the muddy waters of the Tallahatchie River in Mississippi. His kidnapping, torture and murder on 28 August 1955 for having whistled at a white woman was a defining moment of postwar American history.

It set in train a sequence of events that led African Americans in the south to make an unprecedented stand, sparking the civil rights movement. Today his name is emblazoned on history books, memorialized in movies, while the glass-topped casket which tens of thousands of mourners walked by before his burial now stands as the centerpiece of the National Museum of African American history in Washington DC.

To Thelma Wright Edwards, 88, Emmett Till’s next of kin, he is more than a legend of history. He is the adored cousin who she remembers as a “mischievous peacemaker” forever devising pranks and cracking jokes.
