The October 17 Women's March: Everything You Need To Know

Over 100 marches have been added to the DC Womens March on Oct 17th in most cities. This is not the annual march but a special one recently organized due to the fast tracking of the SCOTUS pick.

"When the president made clear his intent to go against Justice Ginsburg’s wishes to wait until after the impending election to appoint her replacement, women everywhere realized this would put the many rights and privileges they’ve fought so hard for under immediate threat."

"On Saturday, October 17, women will be marching everywhere across the country to send an unmistakable message about the fierce opposition to Trump and his agenda, including his attempt to fill Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s seat,” the announcement read. “If Donald Trump is allowed to appoint another Supreme Court Justice, Roe v Wade will be overturned. It’s that simple. This is everything that the Women’s March has warned about since day one of Trump’s presidency."

If Hicks was quarantined Wed, why is it taking tRump so long

to get tested? Are the results delayed or are they working on their talking points?

"Officials at the White House have known about Ms. Hicks’s diagnosis since Wednesday evening, when she traveled with the president aboard Air Force One to Minnesota for a campaign rally in Duluth. Her condition was reported earlier by Bloomberg News, which also said that she had been quarantined on the return flight to Washington. It was unclear when she took the test that resulted in a positive diagnosis."

Russians Were Urged to Return to Normal Life. Except for Putin.

The Russian leader claims to be conquering the pandemic, but he inhabits a virus-free bubble, rarely leaving home. The few people he meets must quarantine first.

The Federal Protective Service, Russia’s answer to the Secret Service, has helped build a virus-free bubble around President Vladimir V. Putin that far outstrips the protective measures taken by many of his foreign counterparts.

Russian journalists who cover Mr. Putin have not seen him up close since March. The few people who meet him face-to-face generally spend as much as two weeks in quarantine first. The president still conducts his meetings with senior officials — including with his cabinet and his Security Council — by video link from a spartan room in his residence outside Moscow, which has been outfitted with Ms. Izranova’s disinfectant tunnel.

But while President Trump and President Jair Bolsonaro of Brazil have chafed against restricting their own movements, Mr. Putin has retreated into an intricate cocoon of social distancing — even as he has allowed life in Russia to essentially return to normal.

The contrast between the behavior of Mr. Putin and that of his people now looms large, as a second wave of the pandemic threatens to wash over Russia. In Moscow, where people packed indoor bars and restaurants all summer with few masks in sight, the number of daily reported new cases tripled to more than 2,300 in the last two weeks.

McConnell moves to protect vulnerable Republicans on health care after Schumer's rare effort to forc

Source: CNN

Republican leaders took steps Wednesday to protect their vulnerable senators ahead of an unusual vote that will put them on the record about whether they support the Trump administration's push to have the Supreme Court strike down the Affordable Care Act and its protections for people with pre-existing conditions.

The GOP move is a clear response to the rare effort by Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer to seize the floor and force a vote requiring them to make a choice: Support a lawsuit backed by President Donald Trump or side with the law protecting people with pre-existing conditions, which has emerged as a central theme in the battle for control of the Senate and the White House.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell scheduled a procedural vote on a Republican bill -- authored by vulnerable North Carolina Sen. Thom Tillis -- that they say would maintain the protections for pre-existing conditions should the Supreme Court toss out the ACA. That would give GOP senators something they can point to as evidence they want to continue those protections and also allow them to vote against and defeat the Democratic bill Thursday.

Call the Senate (202) 224-3121 to encourage Dem senators and tell the GOP senators they will not be reelected if they continue with their agenda and fast tracking their SCOTUS pick.

About BigmanPigman

I am 57, retired teacher and illustrator, life-long dem., activist, union member. Also I do not use social media and I'm technologically retarded. I love dogs, rock music and swearing (a lot). My 17 year old "puppy" died on June 2, 2020. She grew up listening to Animals (Pink Floyd). She has kept me sane through the tRump years, not easy, and has given me endless love, companionship, kisses and tail wags.
