BigmanPigman's JournalThank you unions! Happy Labor Day!
https://www.history.com/topics/holidays/labor-day-1"THE FIRST LABOR DAY CELEBRATION WAS SEPTEMBER 5, 1882 IN NEW YORK CITY.
On that Tuesday, 10,000 citizens marched for labor rights down the streets of Manhattan. During this time the average American worked 12 hours a day, six days a week. It wasn't until the Adamson Act passed on September 3, 1916 that our modern eight-hour work day was established."

Last night a doctor in TX said we all should take classes in treating
victims of a mass shooting, like how to stop bleeding, differentiate wounds, etc.
"...at the news conference following this shooting was the emergency physician (an Iraq war veteran with 10 years served) was that Americans everywhere do like the hospital in Odessa has done prepare for a mass casualty event. Every man, woman and child needs to be prepared to offer help to the victims for Life Support and other emergency measures, It sickened me to hear him say that because he was admitting that these events will continue and no one is safe. His quote....not a matter of IF but WHEN".

Is this good advice that we should all take seriously and consider this training? Should this be training for all Americans like CPR and the Heimlich Maneuvers? Or is this part of "normalizing" this issue? I certainly don't want to think that this is the approach we should take going forward. Isn't pressuring the Senate and our reps and voting to stop the guns a better goal?
"Why People Hate Religion"
https://www.nytimes.com/2019/08/30/opinion/trump-religion.html"Religious hypocrites are an easy and eternal mark."
"Evangelicals give cover to an amoral president because they believe God is using him to advance their causes. There has never been anyone who has defended us and who has fought for us, who we have loved more than Donald J. Trump, said Ralph Reed at a meeting of professed Christian activists earlier this summer."
"But what really thrills them is when Trump bullies and belittles their opponents, as counterintuitive as that may seem. Evangelicals love the meanest parts of Trump, the Christian writer Ben Howe argues in his new book, The Immoral Majority. Older white Christians rouse to Trumps toxicity because hes taking their side. Its tribal, primal and vindictive."
"So, yes, people hate religion when the loudest proponents of religion are shown to be mercenaries for a leader who debases everything he touches. And yes, young people are leaving the pews in droves because too often the person facing them in those pews is a fraud."
"They hate religion because, at a moment to stand up and be counted on the right side of history, religion is used as moral cover for despicable behavior. This is not new to our age. Hitler got a pass from the Vatican until very late in the war."
WE THE PEOPLE Protest March Sept 21st!
https://wethepeoplemarch.org/solidarity-marches/Protests are being organized a month ahead of the planned date in order to get people informed and give them time to plan to attend. Over 40 are already planned across the US. Check out the link and see if one is near you.
RESIST! Persist! Peace.
"Mission:
We the People are marching to be seen and heard. We are marching to remind our elect-
ed officials that they work for us. We are marching because the current regime is a threat
to our democracy and values. We are marching to demand action. Silence and inaction
are complicity."
Twitter banned Ron Perlman for a tweet about the Koch death.
It was posted here on DU and said, "I hope the Koch brothers are reunited soon". What is so bad about that? Apparently it didn't stop him for calling them out for their vile agenda in a new tweet.

Yesterday Twitter slapped me with a 12-hour ban for a tweet referencing the Koch brothers. The day that we are silenced for calling out fascism, for pointing a finger at those who would rape and pillage the very air we breathe, may God help us! @twitter
Does anyone remember singer Klaus Nomi?
He was a new wave/opera singer in the 70s and died in 1983 (one of the earliest from AIDS). He performed with Bowie on SNL too. No one I know remembers him which makes me blue.

San Diego's Jewish leaders were asked about tRump's recent remarks.
https://timesofsandiego.com/politics/2019/08/24/san-diego-jewish-leaders-face-challenges-responding-to-trumps-tweets-disloyalty-claim/* The Poway Synagogue shooting took place in the San Diego area.
"San Diego Jewish Leaders Face Challenges Responding to Trumps Tweets, Disloyalty Claim."
"Over the past month, President Trump has tweeted and said things about Muslim members of Congress that many saw in the same light as racist. He also declared that American Jews who vote for Democrats were being very disloyal to Jewish people and very disloyal to Israel.
"About 50 rabbis and other leaders were asked via email or website forms to comment on whether Trumps tweets were racist and Rep. Ilhan Omar anti-Semitic for supporting the BDS movement (boycott-divestment-sanctions) against Israel."
"Only seven responded on the record, mostly with variations of we dont do anything political.
