Juliusseizure's Journal"No Regrets for Trump Voters" - Salon Article
This is the best article I've read on why core Trump Voters won't budge in their support.
It doesn't tell the whole story, but accurately describes their cognitive dissonance and deep seated tribal nature of their loyalty. An attack on Trump is perceived attack as an attack on their opinions, tribal affiliation, and self-worth.
Bottom line:
It's useless to try to convince Trump voters to change their minds. Theyre just too good at coming up with excuses for why they should keep standing by their man.
That said..., the capacity for denial in Trump voters is not bottomless. Its just that the scandals and corruption are unlikely to move the needle much, since those things can be rationalized away.
But most... experts thought its possible that if the presidents policies (especially if he signs the Republican health care bill) start to affect Trump voters finances or well-being, many of them will be unable to keep telling themselves hes a good guy who is just besieged by the mean-spirited liberals in the media.
--------------------------------------------
This is consistent with my observations. The only thing that could effect their support is Trump acting in a concrete, undeniable manner that hurts their finances or well-being personally.
That's why if Dems want to burst that big vulnerable Trump bubble, drive a wedge between Trump and them by pointing out his economic and healthcare policies hurt them personally. Trump is NOT YOUR BUDDY. That's a fact, and forces him to lie, be on the defensive, and show his mean side. It plants doubt.

Senate Approves New Russia Sanctions
Source: CNN
The Senate on Wednesday voted overwhelmingly to enact new sanctions against Russia and make it difficult for President Donald Trump to lift them.In a rare moment of bipartisan unity, the Senate voted 97 to two to approve the sanctions, with only Republicans Mike Lee of Utah and Rand Paul of Kentucky voting against.
The new Russia sanctions would create a congressional review process if the executive branch eases current sanctions. It also imposes new sanctions in a number of categories, including those "conducting malicious cyber activity on behalf of the Russian government" and "supplying weapons to the Assad regime."
Republican senators said Tuesday they expected Trump to sign the bill, which will still need to be passed in the House before it goes to the President's desk.
Trump administration officials, however, have expressed some concerns with the package. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson told a Senate panel Tuesday he was wary of actions that could interfere with the administration's efforts to improve relations with Russia.
