clementine613's JournalQuick Question Regarding Impeachment and the Senate
Just out of curiosity, if the House does pass Articles of Impeachment against the President, is there an actual requirement that the Senate hold the trial? Can the Chief Justice compel them (since he presides over the trial)? Or do they have the legal option (whether or not it's the right thing to do) of just taking no action (a la the Merrick Garland nomination)?
Thank you in advance.
The Rethugs are the Party of Hate
A Rethug shoots up people in El Paso
A Rethug shoots up people in Dayton
A Rethug "president" does nothing
No single Rethug in power offers to do anything to help the situation.
No single Rethug offers anything in terms of practical solutions, or even true and sincere words of comfort
No single Rethug is horrified by what happened over this weekend.
No single Rethug cares about anyone except the 1%
Every single Rethug wants to roll back civil rights to the 1800s
Every single Rethug wants to bring back slavery and enslave anyone who isn't like them.
Every single Rethug is solely interested in their own power and wealth.
The only thing I can conclude is that Rethugs are soulless monsters. They aren't human. They're filled with hate and rage towards anyone who isn't like them. We need to vote them out of power and make sure that they never win any election again... from dogcatcher upward.
Is there any chance that the power outage in NYC this weekend...
... was a "subtle" message to cities to not interfere with the ICE raids that the Rethugs are planning for this weekend?
So now, the Rethugs want to take control of our kidneys?
So now I read that the Rethugs are overhauling the kidney donation process (probably to make sure that they and their cronies can steal them from the rest of us when needed). Who gave them the right to steal our organs?
If Trump Has Nothing to Hide...
... then he wouldn't need to claim "executive privileged" on anything. If he had nothing to hide, he wouldn't need teams lawyers to hide behind to protect him from the consequences of his illegal actions.
The House should subpoena his butt to the chamber and flat out ask him about anything they want. No lawyers, no "executive privilege," no excuses. Either he tells the truth about every damn thing or else he goes to jail for lying to Congress.
The President Should Not Be Impeached.
She should be allowed to take her office instead.
Rethug Hypocracy
They state that they believe in the Constitution and free speech and open debate...
... and yet they allow the Senate to be held hostages to the whim of one person - and if that person doesn't want something brought to the floor, it doesn't happen. So much for freedom of debate in the Senate.
