(HuffPost) Critics on Twitter slammed Donald Trumps son for his complete lack of self-awareness.
Eric Trumps attempted Labor Day attack on Democratic 2020 nominee Joe Biden backfired as critics on Twitter reminded President Donald Trumps son of his fathers failings. Everything this guy does is low energy and awkward... Eric Trump captioned a photo of a Biden event in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, on Monday. Everyone in the picture was wearing face masks and following social distancing measures aimed at slowing the spread of the coronavirus.

Republicans In Swing States Were Fixing Vote-By-Mail Systems. Then Trump Tweeted.
(HuffPost) GOP lawmakers were seriously preparing for a flood of absentee ballots until the president signaled that he prefers chaos.
The bill was supposed to be uncontroversial, and at first, it was. Early this year, Michigan advanced a bipartisan measure to let election officials take absentee ballots out of their mailing envelopes but not to unseal the ballots or count them the day before Election Day. It was the kind of small, bureaucratic switch that could make the difference between timely results in this falls presidential election and chaos. And it was moving steadily, with Republican support, through Michigans GOP-led Senate.
Then, President Donald Trump made it clear that he preferred chaos. There is NO WAY (ZERO!) that Mail-In Ballots will be anything less than substantially fraudulent, he tweeted in May. Since then, the bill has barely budged.
The loss of momentum in Michigan follows a pattern that voting rights advocates say they are seeing in key swing states: As Trump has worked furiously to undermine mail-in voting, rank-and-file Republicans, who were previously serious about adapting elections amid the coronavirus pandemic, have fallen in line to help him.
snip
Michigan is just one example. In Pennsylvania, Republicans have signaled that they wont agree to speed up absentee ballot counting without also adding new voter restrictions. In Wisconsin, the Republican-controlled state legislature has altogether ignored calls to prepare for a tidal wave of mail-in ballots. All three are swing states that could determine the presidential race. And in all three states, laws bar officials from opening mail-in ballots before Election Day, making it virtually impossible to report accurate results on election night. (Read More)

Bipartisan campaign aims to reassure U.S. voters as Trump questions election integrity
(Reuters) At least a dozen groups are planning a large-scale, bipartisan public relations campaign to counter any attempt by President Donald Trump to cast doubt on the integrity of the November election or dispute the result should he lose, people involved in the effort told Reuters.
One organization, the National Task Force on Election Crises, is contacting leading politicians from both major parties, military figures, star athletes, faith leaders and business executives, asking them to reassure voters about the integrity of the election result if chaos ensues after the Nov. 3 contest.

The election crises task force, a bipartisan organization made up of 50 former cabinet members, politicians and election experts, was formed two years ago to ensure a secure election that maximizes voter confidence by providing advice to election officials and voters on a range of potential problems.
One idea under discussion is to ask former presidents Bush and Democrat Barack Obama to address U.S. voters should the validity of the election result be questioned. (Read More)

The Battle For Florida's Latino Voters Could Decide The Entire Presidential Election
(HuffPost) Facing relentless attacks about socialism, Joe Bidens campaign is delivering a new message: Trump is the dictator so many Latinos in Florida once fled.
snip
To win the 2020 election, Trump needs Florida ― no Republican has won the White House without winning the state since 1924, and given Trumps falling polling numbers in several key battlegrounds, its nearly impossible to come up with a combination of outcomes that gets Trump across the 270-vote electoral college threshold without Floridas 29.
And to win Florida, the president likely needs Cuban Americans like Nuñez to support him in numbers similar to those of 2016, when 54% of Floridas Cuban American voters backed him over his Democratic opponent Hillary Clinton.
That has set up a furious fight between Trump and Biden for this familiar group of Floridians, who may no longer be the largest bloc of Latino voters in the Sunshine State but are still the most influential. And socialism has become a key focus of the dispute, especially as Trump has waged cynical battles to bring down socialist Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and cripple the Communist government in Cuba.
snip
Biden is trying to flip the script on Trump, honing in not just on Cuban Americans but on South Floridas small-but-growing segment of Venezuelan Americans. Last week, the Biden campaign organized a virtual roundtable where Latino supporters whod fled Venezuela, Cuba and other authoritarian states in Latin America made the case that its Trump who is the caudillo so many Florida Latinos ran away from the sort of dictatorial strongman they thought theyd left behind. (Bloomberg via Msn) Imagine a bidder wanting to buy KFC, but being told the deal might not include the Colonels 11 secret herbs and spices. Thats effectively what Beijing has told the list of U.S. companies keen to purchase short-video app TikTok: The key ingredients may be out of reach.
At first it looked like the Trump administration had it all figured out.
ByteDance Inc., it decided, was a risk to national security and the Chinese companys main product for international markets had to be sold. For reasons that remain confounding, Satya Nadella entered the fray and Microsoft Corp. put in a bid. Soon, suitors were apparently lining up to buy the hip new product that claims 100 million U.S. downloads. A short deadline Sept. 15 helped build a sense of urgency. TikTok is essentially going through a forced sale.
Then Beijing stepped in. Chinas Commerce Ministry added new items to its list of export controls late Friday. Now, artificial intelligence interface technologies such as speech and text recognition, as well as methods to analyze data and make personalized content recommendations, are matters of national security.
snip
This move puts the ball back in Donald Trumps court. The U.S. president may need to contend with the real possibility that TikTok doesnt find a buyer, and hell have to decide whether one of the nations most popular products should be removed from the app store of its most valuable company. Trump may think that strong-arming China will boost his re-election chances, but being outplayed could backfire. Its also possible that if TikTok ends up being banned altogether, there will be a backlash by the apps fans.

(MSN) Hillary Clinton, who lost to Donald Trump in 2016, said Tuesday that this year's Democratic challenger Joe Biden should refuse to concede until all votes are counted in a tight and possibly drawn-out contest. Clinton said that possible delays in tallying ballots -- with mail-in voting set to reach unprecedented levels -- mean Biden must hold back from accepting defeat initially.
"Joe Biden should not concede under any circumstances because I think this is going to drag out and, eventually, I do believe he will win if we don't give an inch and if we are as focused and relentless as the other side," Clinton said in an interview with Showtime's "The Circus."
Clinton, who won almost three million more votes than Trump overall in 2016 but lost to him in the state-by-state electoral college count, suggested that the Republicans are hoping to get the result they want through in-person voting on the day -- and not necessarily wait for any delayed mail-in ballots to be counted.
Her comments follow warnings from both sides that the result of the election may not be known on the evening of November 3rd. Republicans "have a couple of scenarios that they are looking toward. One is messing up absentee balloting," she said. "They believe that helps them so that they then get maybe a narrow advantage in the electoral college on election day," Clinton said.
She called for Democrats to mount a "massive legal operation." (Read More)
