Maybe one of these meetings should be required prior to voting.

....or two or three or ten.......

I'm old enough to remember when everyday citizens - both Democrat and Republican - talked with no prejudice or concern for politics, mostly about community and family or fishing or baseball. Politics was almost never discussed except a little around election time.

We need something to get us all talking again.

Thanks for posting this, FM123. It is both healing and inspirational and gives us a ray of hope.

Wish President Biden a Happy Birthday (Nov. 20).

Received a reminder email from the DNC today regarding our President's upcoming birthday:

Saturday, November 20, is President Biden’s first-ever birthday as president of the United States. To celebrate everything he’s accomplished over the past year, from beating back COVID-19 to fighting to rebuild our nation’s middle class and lift up families across the country, our team wanted to do something special.

The President's web page: https://www.whitehouse.gov/administration/president-biden/

White House contact page: https://www.whitehouse.gov/contact/

Mailing address:

The White House
1600 Pennsylvania Ave NW
Washington, DC 20500

Other birthdays:

First Lady Jill Biden: June 3
Vice President Kamala Harris: October 20
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi: March 26
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer: November 23

I did not find a contact phone number for the White House on their web page. Perhaps we should call a Republican politician's office and leave a birthday message for President Biden....

If anyone has better or additional contact info, please chime in. Nice to learn the President and I are both Scorpio.

Happy Birthday Mr. President!.... .... ..... ..... ..... .....

Thank you for your service to education. Ohio still benefits from your work!

Maybe I'm an oddball but I feel teaching is the most honorable profession on earth, perhaps alongside some in the health field. And, there is no more productive investment than in public education, alongside basic food and health needs.

You are correct that most politicians would rather invest in physical monuments to their tenure such as new roads or structures than in education which has mostly long-term returns to society.

Good to hear you found a productive fall-back profession than benefits humanity!

CNBC: Why Teachers Are Paid So Little In The U.S.

Why Teachers Are Paid So Little In The U.S.
Dec 10, 2020
CNBC

As the dad of an elementary school teacher, this video pulls my heartstrings. I watch her pay for supplies out of pocket each year and go through the stress of exposure to COVID as she has returned to in-class work.

The video is from December, 2020 but the facts and data still stand. I hope Congress can address this issue in the BBB or separate legislation soon.

Give a teacher a hug for all of us........

The veteran, former Kentucky National Guardsman Joshua Rohrer, was arrested at the scene and charged with two misdemeanor counts of resisting an officer, a misdemeanor count of begging for money and a solicit from highway infraction, Gaston County Jail records show.

Rohrer was freed the next afternoon on $3,000 bail, according to the records. Friends posted his bail, according to a GoFundMe site that had raised $13,250 by Friday afternoon from 350 donors. The money will be used for Rohrer’s legal fees, housing costs and mental health treatment.

Gaston County Police later released a 911 call from a citizen who complained about a man “using” a dog to get money, WBTV reported. Rohrer denied the accusation during interviews with Charlotte-area news media. He told WBTV that he was merely walking at the intersection, “smiling, waving and chatting” with passers-by. “I fought for my country,” he told the station. “I fought for everybody’s freedom, and I feel like a freedom we should have is being able to walk where we please, as long as it’s not private property, no trespassing.”

Two witnesses to the Oct. 13 encounter told WCNC that officers “slammed him up against” a patrol car and handcuffed Rohrer. The witnesses said an officer Tased Sunshine after she nipped the officer’s boot, according to the station.

RIP, Betty Lynn. She was also a WW2 USO heroine.

From: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Betty_Lynn

Snip1....

USO tour

When she was 17, Lynn auditioned to participate in United Service Organizations entertainment. At age 18 she was part of a USO tour in the China Burma India Theater. She realized the gravity of the situation when a Marine gave her a pistol saying, "You might need this."

Her activities on the tour included visiting patients in hospitals and singing requests from a repertoire of 725 songs. She also met recently released prisoners of war from Rangoon, and she was told by a doctor, "Most of them will be out of their minds in six months."

Back in the day, I would have seen The Andy Griffith Show only in black and white, so I would not have known she was a red head.

Snip2.....
On Broadway, she appeared in Walk with Music (1940), Oklahoma! (1943), and Park Avenue (1946). She was discovered in a Broadway production by Darryl F. Zanuck and signed to 20th Century Fox. A clause in her contract allowed the studio to drop her at six-month intervals, leading to recurring concerns for Lynn. She said, "I was a redhead with freckles and didn’t have a bosom. I prayed so hard they’d keep picking me up."

The GOP knew he is a narcissistic psychopath when they ran him for office.

Exactly per plan, he helped create dysfunction in everything he touched and a perfect fit when you're trying to dismantle trust and confidence in democratic government. Temper tantrums fit right in.

Meanwhile, the GOP think tank-driven demolition machine worked silently behind the curtain.

He's the perfect poster boy for fascism and U.S. corporatocracy.

I am surprised a video or audio recording of one of his tantrums never got leaked.

Swalwell: The Overwhelming Majority Of Capitol Police Are Heroes
MSNBC

Congressman Eric Swalwell (D-CA) reacts to the news of a Capitol Police officer being charged with obstructing the January 6th riot investigation.

Rep. Swalwell provides excellent counterweight to those on the right wishing to use Capitol Police as a foil against accountability for their tRump fan boys and girls involved in the 1/6 insurrection.
