Jinjer Announce First Tour Since War in Ukraine

In case anyone was wondering about the band from Ukraine...

Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine in late February, the Ukrainian band Jinjer have had to put their band on hold to tend to much more pressing issues in their homeland. The group fronted by Tatiana Shmayluk sadly had to drop off of their opening slot on the Knotfest Roadshow and pause all future touring plans, instead putting their efforts into selling charity shirts to help raise humanitarian aid funds to serve their fellow citizens.

However, after several months of pausing the band, Jinjer have announced that they're planning to return to the road early next year by way of a U.K. tour opening for Bullet for My Valentine alongside Atreyu.

"It's like a fireman not going into a building because they might get burned,"

I asked my wife, who worked with the FD for 20 years this question. If a firefighter knows a person is in a building that is burning, will they go in there to save them no matter the chances of being burned.
Her answer was ALWAYS.
Not so much for the police, right? They might get shot.
Yes, I know this is a broad brush, but dayum.

Jason Whitlock can go fuck himself and his right-wing rhetoric. What a disgrace.

Jason Whitlock, a former ESPN journalist who now works for conservative outlet The Blaze, shared a take in response to a tweet by right-wing disinformation peddler Jack Posobiec, who wondered why “armed Texans” didn’t go after the gunman.

I'm not defending the actions of the officers. But we've demonized law enforcement to the point that there are far fewer rewards for being a hero, for taking risks. When your culture makes George Floyd the hero, real heroes stand down. Cultural rot has consequences. https://t.co/1YvYt121qt

Whitlock said he wasn’t defending the police, but claimed that America has “demonized law enforcement to the point that there are far fewer rewards for being a hero, for taking risks.”

“When your culture makes George Floyd the hero, real heroes stand down. Cultural rot has consequences,” he added. Floyd, a Black Minneapolis resident who was murdered by Officer Derek Chauvin during an arrest in 2020, became a symbol in nationwide protests against police brutality toward people of color.

I've had to post this all too often.

If you don't have the time to watch it, I understand, but it IS the most powerful protest song of all time.
And more pertinent than ever.

To all the victims left behind...

Yes, I know it's long, but so very worth the time. Pause it when it shows the newspaper headline. It will explain everything.

Why Now? After all these years of existing with Roe v Wade

are so many governors emboldened to sign complete/almost complete abortion bans. I'm 67 years old. I have never seen the country so "openly" divided be issues.

McTurtle has a dire warning (promise) for America.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) warned in an interview Saturday that a national ban on abortion is “possible” if the Supreme Court guts Roe v. Wade as it’s expected to do — and federal lawmakers then pass a law prohibiting abortion across the country.

Individuals may seek damages as a remedy when federal officers violate their rights.

This begs two questions: Are Supreme Justices federal officers? Can they be sued for violating the rights of women who seek abortions?

"According to the Court, “in the context of suits against Government officials, damages have long been awarded as appropriate relief.” And that has been true not only for state and local officials, but also federal officials, like those employed by the FBI. Moreover, the Court highlighted that damages are important because they are often the only remedy available. For example, for one of the plaintiffs, Muhammad Tanvir, who lost his job because of his placement on the No Fly List, it is damages or nothing. Finally, in response to the government’s argument that policy favors denying a damages remedy against government officials, Justice Thomas, just like Justice Story two centuries before him, emphasized that it is the job of Congress to engage in policy making: “[T]here are no constitutional reasons why we must do so in its stead.”
