A line from The Sixth Sense: "They only see what they want to see"

Covers so much ground nowadays.

Pogo, 1970: "We have met the enemy, and he is us."

Re: the idiocy of reopening so much during the pandemic.

Or, C3PO, 1974: "We're doomed."

Now he's trying to block his niece's book

because she has highly classified national security secrets too.

Leak some of it. Let the horse out of the barn.

Pass the popcorn, please.

How can T's staff keep up with his comments?

"He fired Berman." "I didn't fire Berman."

"He was kidding about reducing the testing." "I never kid."

There seems to be this repeating pattern where he says something, then his aides try to spin it, and then he contradicts them. How many times has this happened by now?

How can they keep up with him?

How dumb do T and his cronies think his supporters are?

I've been wondering about this for a while, given the lies and spins and whole approach to communications. But this morning's statement by McEnany really took the cake. She said on Fox that “The president was quite energized. I was with him after the rally. It was a huge success. His speech got rave reviews. He was in good spirits on Marine One.”

Even if someone didn't keep up with the scuttlebutt about how he was pissed when his plane flew over the arena, or yelling at his staff because of the small crowd, there were clips of him getting out of the plane and later out of the helicopter. He didn't look energized. He looked worn out, defeated, depressed, like he had just lost his best friend. I actually caught myself feeling bad about seeing somebody -- anybody -- looking like that.

Ok, you can argue that he was tired after a long day. Sure, fine. But in three and a half years we've never seen the guy not have a smug, confident look on his face in front of the cameras. Also the way he was holding the hat. It was crumpled, like was pissed off at it. That's not the persona he likes to portray.

So for McEnany to make that statement, and expect people to accept, it makes me believe the gang thinks their supporters are stupid. It's like being outside on a perfectly clear, sunny Summer day and having someone come up to you and tell you it's snowing and expecting you to believe it. I find that offensive.

[Edit] After reading the first few posts below -- this post isn't about how dumb we think his supporters are, but about how dumb T and company might think his supporters are.

I used to think I was above schadenfreude

but in this case I'll make an exception.

Too bad about your rally, bunkerboy.

I would hate to be on Air Force One on the way back to DC.

Man, they're going to have to turn up the A/C all the way. The pilots are probably going to need extra ear protection. And the poor flight staff is going to earn their salary for the next year or two.

Yikes.

Once more, Moscow Mitch isn't getting attention from the MSM.

If there's one person in Congress who's responsible for this disaster we're in, it's Moscow Mitch, and I'm more convinced than ever that T is just a patsy for the GOP, who are using him and his fucking antics to divert attention from what they're doing. I wouldn't even be the least bit surprised if MM and the GOP think T's followers are idiots but useful as distractions.

But of course, the asshole-in-chief generates more ad revenue than a mere politician, so the MSM continues to focus on T and ignore the real culprit.

DOJ wants an emergency restraining order on Bolton's book.

Now it's an emergency restraining order. What's next?

Folks, that horse left the barn. You can't get it back in there.

And why the hell isn't the MSM crying "coverup?"
