Two wild elk, blatantly disregarding social distancing, locked antlers at Redwood National Park in a halfhearted duel that was caught on video.
The only casualty was a Danger: Wild Elk sign that the bulls kept drunkenly stumbling into. The post wobbled with every body slam, the sign clanked every antler jab.
Despite the collateral damage, the battle itself was a dud.
At this time of the year, Roosevelt elk males which can weigh up to 1,000 pounds each rarely engage in a full-blown fight. Thats reserved for the fall rut when they attempt to prove their dominance in front of the cows. Those showdowns are violent, dust-flying affairs that end quickly.

New York (CNN Business)Jeff Martin was enjoying a vacation with his wife Joleen in Mexico in mid-March when they woke up one morning to an onslaught of cancellations to their various Airbnb properties.
The couple typically sees bookings peak for their 22 Airbnb rentals mostly across Phoenix, Arizona, from January to March, largely in part to nice weather and various conferences and events. They've had about 150 cancellations so far due to the coronavirus pandemic.
"It's like somebody dropped a nuclear bomb on our calendar," Martin told CNN Business. "It's just wiped clean. It's crazy."
-----------------------
Chris Morrow and her husband Marty, who typically rent out their home on Airbnb on weekends to help pay their mortgage, temporarily moved out of their house in San Diego County to rent it to health care workers, first responders or other people in need. They said the house, where they've lived for seven years, will be available at an 80% discount for stays of at least 30 days. (They're currently living on their boat nearby.)
"We never expected to have to move out of our first home," she said, adding the fee they're charging will go toward utility bills. "It's emotional because we live here on the weekdays and the house is furnished and set up for us by us. We are hoping to receive an invitation from Airbnb to receive the $5,000 grant."

https://nypost.com/2020/05/04/man-wears-kkk-hood-while-grocery-shopping-in-california/
A day after San Diego residents were required to wear face coverings in public, a man went grocery shopping while wearing a Ku Klux Klan hood, according to a report.
The hooded creep was seen roaming the aisles of a Von supermarket in the San Diego County city of Santee on Saturday, the San Diego Union-Tribune reported.
Store clerks repeatedly asked the man to remove the hood or leave the premises.
A supervisor approached him at the checkout line and asked him again to take off the hood or leave, company spokeswoman Melissa Hill told the newspaper.
The man finally removed the hood, bought his items and left.

Social media users and local officials expressed outrage this weekend after photos emerged Saturday of a male shopper at the Santee Vons wearing a makeshift Ku Klux Klan hood.
Detectives from the Sheriffs Department are looking into the matter and will pursue any appropriate criminal charges, said a press release Monday, confirming an investigation reported late Sunday by Santee Mayor John Minto. The Sheriffs Department does not condone hate or any acts of intolerance in our communities. We are a county that is welcoming of people from all backgrounds.

JACKSON, Miss. Money meant to help poor residents was used to buy luxury cars, sponsor a college baseball tournament and hire family members of a top state official, according to a report from State Auditor Shad White.
-----------------
In a statement, White said the report "shows the most egregious misspending my staff have seen in their careers at the Office of the State Auditor." He said, "If there was a way to misspend money, it seems DHS leadership or their grantees thought of it and tried it."
Those facing criminal charges include former Department of Human Services Director John Davis, as well as Nancy New, the leader of the Mississippi Community Education Center, or MCEC, one of the nonprofit groups that received millions of TANF dollars.
Among the audit's "questioned" spending:
The two nonprofit groups used welfare money to hire lobbyists, often without paperwork describing the work they were supposed to do.
MCEC gave contracts to, and hired, family members of Davis, sometimes making lump sum payments. The payments and salaries to his nephew and brother-in-law totaled more than $1 million over the past several years, auditors said.
Both nonprofit groups gave welfare money to a trio of wrestlers, Ted DiBiase, Ted DiBiase, Jr. and Brett DiBiase some of it for work never performed, some for "unreasonable" travel costs.
MCEC paid Victory Sports Foundation with welfare money to run fitness programs, some of which Mississippi legislators and other officials or staffers participated in, free of charge. The trainer who runs Victory, said he did not know he received welfare money.
MCEC bought three cars with welfare money, each worth more than $50,000, for New and two sons. Salaries, cellphones and other expenses were paid using welfare money. The vehicles included a 2018 Nissan Armada, a Chevrolet Silverado and a Ford F-250. In each case, the vehicle was registered to MCEC, but in each case, auditors said the vehicles were for personal use.
MCEC used welfare money for sports-related purposes, including sponsoring a college baseball tournament and other NCAA events.
MCEC cut a $3,000 check to a bookkeeper of MCEC, though a handwritten note says "$3,000 cash was given to" Davis, the DHS executive director.
MCEC moved $6 million to a private school and organization run by New and bought supplies for the school.
DHS officials were scheduled to respond to the report Monday afternoon at a news conference. The directors of MCEC and FRC did not immediately respond to requests for comment Monday. Neither did attorneys for New and Davis.
White said additional indictments could come in the separate criminal case. Federal investigators, including the FBI, are involved.

two masked gunmen jump out of a Jeep aiming pistols with silencers 'and execute Bronx biker gang leader in broad daylight'
Francisco Rosado, 51, was allegedly gunned down in the Bronx on Saturday
Law enforcement sources said the two assailants fled the scene in a blue Jeep
Rosado is said to be the head of the Pagan Motorcycle Club's Bronx chapter
His murder prompted fears of a potential gang war should the suspects turn out to be members of a rival motorcycle club
Pagan MC has over 1,300 members operating in chapters along the East Coast
They are notoriously aggressive when defending their turf and have long-simmering feuds with many other clubs including the Pagans, Outlaws and Bandidos.
The Pagan's, who exclude black members, are widely believed to have ties to the Aryan Brotherhood and the Italian Mafia.
They were formed in the 1950s but reportedly didn'y enter the criminal underworld until John 'Satan' Marron took control in the late 60s and 70s. They have since grown to become one of big four motorbike gangs in the US. They're implictaed in producing and selling drugs, as well as working as arms dealers and bombing plots.
The gang has a long rivalry with the Hell's Angels and Complex reported that in 2010, 19 members of the group were arrested in New York for allegedly plotting to bomb Hells Angels.

OC Restaurant Hits Capacity After Opening Doors, Ignoring Stay-at-Home Orders
--------
"Im emotional," Jeff Gourey, the restaurant's owner, said. "Its a bigger fight than for my restaurant. Its for my people."
Fighting back tears, Gourey said he has 25 employees who rely on his payroll. His restaurant had been serving take-out only since mid-March, but that was bringing in just 10% of usual business.
Said Gourey, "How long do we hide from it, regardless? We cant stop working. We cant stop living."
With the sun shining on the Nomads deck Sunday, customers said they are tired of being stuck at home.
"I miss the interaction and being out," Lark Sampson, a customer said.
Rich Barry, another customer, added, "It feels extraordinary to be in a restaurant because its been six weeks."
Inside the restaurant, Gourey said hes telling people to practice social distancing, but he says he believes he and his staff are young and healthy enough to survive COVID-19 if they contract the virus.
"Six weeks it plenty of time, thats what I believe," Gourey said. "On a sunny day like this, no one is at risk."

"I am greeted with a hostile press the likes of which no president has ever seen," Trump said at the Fox News town hall Sunday night.
"The closest would be that gentleman right up there," Trump said, pointing to the 16th President's statue. "They always said nobody got treated worse than Lincoln. I believe I am treated worse."
Trump was speaking at the time of a widening divide between states that are opening economies and others that are warning of premature declarations of victory amid soaring tensions fomented by weeks of coronavirus lockdowns.
His statement was classic Trump, not just in his audacity of comparing himself to the man many historians rate as the greatest president, but in his tendency to make every issue -- even in the midst of a national tragedy in which tens of thousands of Americans have died -- about himself.

A New York police officer has been stripped of his gun and badge and placed on desk duty after shocking video emerged showing him beating up a man over an alleged social distancing violation.
On Saturday, several plainclothes NYPD cops broke up a group of people ignoring social distancing orders and dragged a man to the ground and arrested him in the East Village on Avenue D and 9th Street around 5pm.
Two minutes after the arrest bystanders began to shout and decry the force used by police , prompting Officer Francisco Garcia to threaten the crowd with a stun gun and shout 'Get back. Get the f**k back', according to the New York Post.
Donni Wright, 33, was a part of that crowd and shouted 'He didn't even do nothing' in shock over the cops' earlier arrest.
'What you flexing for? Don't flex,' Garcia, wearing a black T-shirt, jeans, Yankees cap and a belt showing his officer's badge, replied before punching Wright in the head.
