I am not saying all Republican appointed judges put party and power above the rule of law. It only takes a few, and then democracy is dead. For example. Citizen's United, and Bush ~vs~ Gore. And then there's U.S. District Judge T.S. Ellis attacking Mueller sounding like Sean Hannity. An old psychopath weasel who never had a problem with prosecutors throwing the book at poor folk.
People like Trump and Kushner break the law on an hourly basis. Holding them accountable is "too much trouble". It is much easier to convict poor people who can't defend themselves, and then lock them up in warehouses. The masters of the universe get to run their companies, breaking laws at will, and if they get caught, their stockholders pay a fine. They then go on to break more laws.

Republicans Are Supporting A Tyrant - That Is The Proper Word For Your Next Campaign Speech
Trump is obviously is a lawless tyrant. Instead of trying to protect out country from the next Russian attack, Republicans are running cover for the tyrant Putin helped elect, and gumming up the system. Once upon a time the Intelligence Committee was non partisan, and only working to keep America safe. Now it is part of the scorched earth political theater. Our national security has become theater.
