Orchardists In SE Washington State Can't Find Orchard Workers To Prune Or Pick Cherries
A friend of a friend is an American Citizen, and from Mexico. His wife just got to Washington, and he is going to teach her how to prune apple trees. He said the orchardists are panicking. They can't find workers, and the ones that they can find want paid $14 to $15 an hour or they won't work.
The business model of cheap(er) immigrant labor working the fields and orchards is coming to an end up here it appears.
