Good move, Kamala Harris

https://www.housingwire.com/articles/california-ag-says-mortgage-servicers-slow-adopt-settlement-changes

August 16, 2012 HousingWire Staff

The California monitor of the $25 billion national mortgage servicing settlement received roughly 1,100 complaints since March from borrowers reporting a slow uptake to the new rules, according to an official in the state attorney general office.

California AG Kamala Harris appointed Katie Porter in March to oversee how the five largest servicers distribute $18 billion in homeowner relief and implement new standards under the settlement. Consent orders from federal regulators in April 2011 contained many of the same rules.

Bank of America (BAC), JPMorgan Chase (JPM), Wells Fargo (WFC), Citigroup (C), and Ally Financial agreed to end the practice of foreclosing on borrowers who are being considered for a modification, known as dual tracking. The settlement also required servicers to establish a single point of contact for distressed borrowers, new oversight to end mishandled paperwork and the signing of documents en masse without a review of the loan file among other abuses.

Photo of Biden when he thought no one was looking

His name is Rashid and he is sometimes a guest at Georgetown Ministry Center, frequenting GMC for services like showers and laundry. Like Biden, he has also served his country. Rashid, an Air Force veteran, traveled the globe during the Vietnam War, drawing maps and bomb plots to support U.S. troops in the heat of battle. “I was honored and proud to serve,” he says of his time in service.

Rashid has experienced homelessness for some time now and when he saw Biden exiting the movie theater last Thursday evening, he asked him for some money so he could buy a sandwich.

Biden obliged — and then he stayed to talk.

“He didn’t think I recognized him,” Rashid said of the former dignitary. As they spoke, Rashid shared of the struggles he has been experiencing in receiving assistance from the Department of Veterans Affairs, specifically with procuring a housing voucher that would enable him to receive decent, safe and sanitary housing — leaving behind a life on the streets.

It was then that Biden went back into the theater for a pen and paper and jotted down a phone number. It was a personal contact who could assist in helping Rashid. As Biden handed him the slip of paper, a bystander snapped a photo on his phone’s camera — and the rest, as they say in our digital age, is recent history.

If Joe Biden does NOT run

it will be the first Democratic primaries since the Iraq War that won't have a candidate that voted for the Iraq War Resolution.

If he does run, then once again, a leading Democratic candidate for the nomination will be a senator that voted for the IWR.

L.A. Times: When will Trump tell his 10,000th lie?

https://www.latimes.com/opinion/enterthefray/la-ol-trump-march-madness-lies-office-pool-20190305-story.html

President Trump passed an ignominious milestone during his weekend speech before the Conservative Political Action Conference over the weekend. According to a tracker kept by the Washington Post, Trump made more than 100 “false or misleading claims” over a span of two hours, a performance that pushed him over 9,000 lies in the first 773 days of his presidency through Sunday.

Which raises the question: When will Trump utter his 10,000th lie?

Well, this year he’s let loose with an average of 22 whoppers a day. Looking at the calendar and doing a little doodling math, I’ll take April 15 in the office pool, which has a lovely synchronicity since that’s the day the bill literally comes due for taxpayers.
