Onlookers recently were shocked as thousands of fish and rays swam to the surface along the shores of northern Biscayne Bay gasping for air. The bay’s dissolved oxygen levels had tanked. Thousands more fish had already suffocated to death. In desperation, local officials sprayed water into the bay from pumps on the shore and vessels, all in a vain attempt to raise oxygen levels.

Miami-Dade’s leadership was made aware that there have been many significant seagrass die-offs over the past 20 years throughout Biscayne Bay. Driven by algal blooms and low dissolved oxygen, the die-offs were reported in 1998, 1999, 2005, 2010 and 2016. DERM reported a nearly 90 percent baywide loss of seagrasses from historical levels, from Barnes Sound in the southern Bay to Julia Tuttle Basin in the northern Bay.

Osama bin Laden‘s niece has claimed that another 9/11-inspired attack could happen if Joe Biden is elected president, and she says only Donald Trump could prevent it.

A significant majority of Americans believe President Donald Trump's rhetoric on the unrest in parts of the country is making matters worse -- with even members of his own party divided on his approach -- a new ABC News/Ipsos poll released Friday finds.

Trump's attempt to reframe the race against former Vice President Joe Biden around "law and order," does not appear to be breaking through.

Over half of the country -- 55% -- in the new poll, which was conducted by Ipsos in partnership with ABC News using Ipsos' Knowledge Panel, said they think Trump is aggravating the situation, while just over one in 10 Americans, 13%, said they think he is making it better. Fewer than one-third, 29%, believe what Trump has said on the topic has had no effect on the protests over racial injustice.

Among his base, 30% of Republicans say the president is improving the situation, compared to 26% who say he's having an adverse impact. Only 18% of white, non-college educated Americans, another core constituency for the president, believe he is having a positive effect on the protests, while 41% view his comments on the demonstrations amid the debate over racial equality as having a negative influence.

(Bloomberg) -- President Donald Trump spent more than $1 billion in taxpayer funds, rolled back environmental rules and tried to stop power plant closings to fulfill a vow he made to West Virginia coal miners in the 2016 campaign.

But nothing he’s done is rescuing the coal industry.

Since Trump’s inauguration, U.S. coal production—after a slight uptick in 2017—is expected to be down 31% this year from 2016 levels. By some estimates, more than five dozen coal-burning power plants have closed and although mining jobs remained steady before dropping this year, they didn’t increase.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The federal budget deficit is projected to hit a record $3.3 trillion as huge government expenditures to fight the coronavirus and to prop up the economy have added more than $2 trillion to the federal ledger, the Congressional Budget Office said.

Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden didn’t appear to get any kind of post-convention bounce in the polls – but he’s definitely getting a huge boost in fundraising.

The former vice president’s campaign is expected to announce this week a record-breaking August haul of more than $300 million, according to a report from the New York Times.
