*Investors put their money and trust in Exxon. And Exxon assured them of the long-term value of their shares, claiming to be factoring in the risk of increasing climate change regulation into its business decisions.
Our investigation found that Exxon often did no such thing.
*Instead, Exxon built a facade to deceive investors into believing the company was managing the risks of climate change regulation to its business when, in fact, it was intentionally & systematically underestimating or ignoring them, despite public representations to the contrary.
*The fraud alleged in todays suit reached the highest levels of Exxon management, including former Chairman & CEO Rex Tillerson.
The law is clear: corporations must tell investors the truth. My office will hold accountable those who dont.

Aust, Colombia, US, Spain bust drug ring
Australian authorities have helped counterparts in Colombia, Spain and the US to dismantle a drug ring specialising in cocaine trafficking on commercial flights.
Thirty of the ring's members have been arrested, the head of the Colombian police said on Thursday.
The drugs, which came from Colombia, were sent mainly to the US, Spain and Australia in suitcases on commercial flights, and payment for the shipments was made through currency exchanges, General Jorge Hernando Nieto told a press conference.
Operation Ambassador resulted in the capture of six people in Australia, 11 in Colombia, 10 in Spain, and three in the US, including Spanish ringleader Jorge Juan Merlo, who was arrested in Cali, Colombia.
Besides the arrests, authorities seized 790kg of cocaine, 10 vehicles, 21 mobile phones, a firearm, eight passports and more than $US200,000 ($A282,800) in cash.
Nieto said Merlo kept a low profile and would fly regularly to Italy, Spain, the US and Australia, where he would connect directly with criminal gangs.
Merlo also moved about on public transport to go unnoticed by law enforcement.
He faces drug trafficking charges in Colombia, the US, Europe and Australia.
The operation involved the Australian Federal Police, Colombian police and prosecutors, Spain's Civil Guard, and US Customs and Border Protection.

Trump will meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin the week after midterm elections a major change in plans that came after Putin called for it.
Russian and U.S. officials announced this week that Trump will meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Nov. 11, the week after midterm elections and four months after the two world leaders met at the disastrous Helsinki summit.
The announcement, which came while national security adviser John Bolton was in Moscow for talks with Russian officials, marks a sharp reversal from the Trump administrations previous position on a bilateral meeting between the two men.
In July, Bolton announced that the next meeting between Trump and the Russian president would be postponed until 2019, citing the Russia investigation as his rationale for the delay.
But apparently Putin didnt want to wait that long.
As investigative journalist Julia Davis reported in late September, Russian state media the official mouthpiece for the Kremlin made a bold prediction about a future meeting between the leaders, saying there is a great probability that Trump and Putin would meet in Paris on Nov. 11, 2018.
And nearly a month to the day later, Bolton announced that Trump wants to meet Putin in Paris on Nov. 11, 2018.
A Kremlin foreign policy aide delivered a similar announcement, saying Bolton had confirmed a preliminary agreement for a bilateral meeting in Paris.
No rationale was given for the sudden reversal in the Trump administrations position perhaps because no rationale was needed, since the move is entirely in line with Trumps posture toward Putin.
Trump has spent most of his presidency deferring to Putin and following his orders on everything from bashing Americas intelligence agencies, to denying Russias election interference, to slow-walking sanctions, and more.
