Story about a sports-oriented discussion board long ago

I saw the thread about posting with multiple accounts and it reminded me of this long ago...

So, many years ago, I used to read a discussion board about a sport. While there were many posters, there were some that more frequent and I would come to recognize some of their names as regulars. One morning I was reading and there was a post-dated in the middle of the night-where one of the posters admitted he was posting as over 16 different people, apologized, and listed their names-I recognized a bunch. I thought he was probably drunk at the time and didn't think much of it.

Imagine my surprise when I realized over the coming days and weeks that none of the people I recognized in that nighttime apology ever posted again....
