Tennessee has added 460 confirmed coronavirus cases, the largest daily increase to date, according to Tennessee Department of Health data.
Case counts have increased by 400 or more for the last three days.
The number of tests administered increased by 8,198.
Tennessee has 8,726 confirmed coronavirus cases and 168 deaths.
More than 800 people --808-- have been hospitalized; 4,370 are considered officially recovered from the disease.

But the Institute for Health Metrics Evaluation (IMHE) has done the best it could with the data it had. Nonetheless, the White House relies on IMHE and today knowing what it knows now, the organization has new updates on when states should reopen.
IMHE looked at each state's social distancing, the testing measures states are taking, and their infection rates.
Tennessee should start to reopen first the week of May 18-24; Mississippi, the following week May 25-31; but Arkansas shouldn't open until June 8th or later. In other words, the dates we're talking about now are too soon.

Older adults with COVID-19, the illness caused by the coronavirus, have several “atypical” symptoms, complicating efforts to ensure they get timely and appropriate treatment, according to physicians.
COVID-19 is typically signaled by three symptoms: a fever, an insistent cough and shortness of breath. But older adults — the age group most at risk of severe complications or death from this condition ― may have none of these characteristics.
Instead, seniors may seem “off” — not acting like themselves ― early on after being infected by the coronavirus. They may sleep more than usual or stop eating. They may seem unusually apathetic or confused, losing orientation to their surroundings. They may become dizzy and fall. Sometimes, seniors stop speaking or simply collapse.

A group called 'Target Workers Unite' says the foot traffic and guest behavior inside stores has been 'atrocious' since the coronavirus pandemic began.
The group Target Workers Unite is calling for a mass sickout to protest because it says the "foot traffic and guest behavior" inside stores has been "atrocious" and its putting employees at risk.
"They do not respect our space, they are not coming to our stores exclusively for essential items, but are occupying our stores out of boredom and for fun," the group states on its website.
A liaison with the employee activist group, Adam Ryan, told USA TODAY that the "safety measures that Target has rolled out are half-measures, and they haven’t done enough to prioritize safety."

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Many senior citizens are lonely during this time due to quarantine restrictions. The Shops of Carriage Crossing in Collierville is partnering with Home Instead Senior Care to deliver positive-hope filled messages to the elderly.
They are asking for hand-written letters or pictures to send to these Memphis-area seniors. The letters will be delivered weekly and safely to those local facilities. The program starts Friday at 11:00 a.m.
Participants can mail their letters to:

Collierville, TN 38017
If you have purchased extra stamps in support of the post office, this would be a nice use of a few.😊👍

The plan was presented to state lawmakers Wednesday and involves using Amazon to distribute the masks across the state. Other details are still being worked out.
“I never heard a timeline on when the masks would be in,” Rep. Antonio Parkinson (D-Memphis) said.
Rep. Parkinson supports the plan but worries it won’t happen fast enough. The governor’s Safer at Home order ends next week, and many Tennessee businesses could reopen May 1.

A new study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association shares what doctors have discovered in New York state’s largest health system.
“The analysis is the largest and most comprehensive look at outcomes in the United States to be published so far. Researchers looked at the electronic medical records of 5,700 patients infected with covid-19 between Mar. 1 and Apr. 4 who were treated at Northwell Health’s 12 hospitals located in New York City, Long Island, and Westchester County — all epicenters of the outbreak. Sixty percent were male, 40 percent female and the average age was 63,” The Washington Post reported Wednesday.
“One other surprising finding from the study was that 70 percent of the patients sick enough to be admitted to the hospital did not have a fever. Fever is currently listed as the top symptom of covid-19 by the CDC, and for weeks, many testing centers for the virus turned away patients if they did not have one,” the newspaper reported.
