MEMPHIS, Tennessee — A man has been arrested after police say he tried to drive his truck through a crowd of protesters in Overton Square Saturday night.
According to Memphis Police, at approximately 9:30 p.m., a crowd was gathered at the intersection of Madison and Cooper, when a man driving a white pickup truck tried to drive through.
Police Charged the driver, 56-year-old William Day, with reckless endangerment and reckless driving.
Day told investigators that as he approached the intersection, he tried to pass through the crowd, but was approached and struck in the face.
Another white guy...more misdemeanor charges! 🤬
The article goes on to say he is "expected" in court tomorrow, meaning they let him out or he was never jailed.

ROCHESTER, Minn — Minnesota-based Mayo Clinic and its research partners have launched a new type of antibody test designed to help develop therapies and vaccines for COVID-19.
The new test measures neutralizing antibodies against SARS-CoV-2, the strain of the coronavirus that causes COVID-19. According to Mayo Clinic, "neutralizing antibodies are a subset of antibodies able to independently inactivate viruses, and are associated with protective immunity against re-infection.
This new test provides us with incredibly important information about how effective a person’s antibodies are at neutralizing the virus," said William Morice, II, M.D., Ph.D., president of Mayo Clinic Laboratories, in a statement. "This will help us identify optimal convalescent plasma donors and ultimately help assess the efficacy of anti-SARS-CoV-2 vaccines."

San Jose cops rupture testicle of their own bias trainer in violent response to protests

California police maimed one of their own trainers as he tried to intervene in an outbreak of violence during nationwide protests against police brutality.
Derrick Sanderlin has for years trained San Jose police recruits how to avoid implicit bias against racial minorities, but the 27-year-old was shot in the groin by a rubber bullet fired by one of the department’s officers — causing his testicle to rupture, reported KGO-TV.

RICHMOND, Va. — As the effort to remove a statue of Confederate General Robert E. Lee rolls on in Richmond, Virginia, protesters have found a unique way to have their message be heard.
For several nights this week, an image of George Floyd has been projected on the base of the Lee statue in Richmond.
Protesters in several states have been advocating for the swift removal of Confederate statues, with or without the approval of authorities.
Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam last week ordered the statue of Lee to be taken down, citing the pain felt across the country over the death of George Floyd, a black man in Minneapolis, after a white police officer pressed a knee into his neck for several minutes.

The VA's top health official says at the height of the pandemic, the department's 170 medical centers used a "daunting amount" of N95 masks per day.

WASHINGTON — The Veterans Affairs Department on Tuesday defended itself against criticism of past shortages of masks and other medical gear to protect employees from the coronavirus but acknowledged its current supplies may not be enough to handle a second wave.
Dr. Richard Stone, the top health official at VA, said at the height of the pandemic its 170 medical centers were going through 250,000 N95 masks per day — a “daunting amount.”
Now, the VA has about a 30-day supply of gear including masks and gowns but it really needs a 60-day supply, he said, partly to address growing demands as the VA moves to fully reopen its medical centers due to the easing of stay-at-home orders nationwide. To handle a possible second wave of COVID-19, it would need a six-month supply.
“A future pandemic wave may test all of us in our preparation,” Stone told the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - A second man accused of driving his vehicle into a group of Black Lives Matter protesters was arrested Tuesday and booked into the Shelby County Jail.
Beau Albauer, 26, is charged with reckless driving and reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon.
According to the affidavit, protesters told police a black Nissan Juke tried hitting them during a demonstration Friday, June 5 in Memphis’ Cooper-Young neighborhood. Protesters said they encountered Albauer earlier in the demonstration and he was upset streets were blocked. When the demonstration reached the intersection of Central and Cooper, protesters said they saw Albauer’s vehicle speeding toward them.
According to the report, protesters “had to make sudden evasive maneuvers” to avoid being hit by the vehicle, which kept accelerating toward the crowd. No was was hit or injured. Police later stopped the vehicle and cited Albauer for running a red light.
