Yet another “Karen” video has emerged on social media, this time showing a woman harassing a Black man for the simple act of sitting in car in front of his own house.
“Didn’t think this would happen to me,” the man says as the video starts. In the background, the clearly agitated woman says she’s taking down his license plate and that she’s already called police.
The man then explains that he’s at his house, to which the woman responds while standing on his doorstep, “Why don’t you come into your f*cking house?”
“No problem,” the man replies.
He then proceeds to walk past her, open his door, and walk into his house.

Dozens of Florida hospitals out of available ICU beds, state data shows

(Reuters) - More than four dozen hospitals in Florida reported that their intensive care units (ICUs) have reached full capacity on Tuesday as COVID-19 cases surge in the state and throughout the country.
Hospital ICUs were full at 54 hospitals across 25 of Florida’s 67 counties, according to data published on Tuesday morning by the state’s Agency for Health Care Administration. More than 300 hospitals were included in the report, but not all had adult ICUs.
Thirty hospitals reported that their ICUs were more than 90% full. Statewide, only 17% of the total 6,010 adult ICU beds were available on Tuesday, down from 20% three days ago, according to the agency’s website.
Florida’s coronavirus cases have soared in the last month, with the state’s daily count topping 10,000 three times in the last week. The death rate from COVID-19 rose nearly 19% in the last week from the week prior, bringing the state’s death toll to more than 3,800.

See thread. Once a state is over 1% prevalence, it becomes much harder to extinguish the flare up. It will take a huge effort to put out these outbreak fires. More than masks alone. We could top 500k US deaths this year if this trend continues.
White woman fired from her job after telling black protester 'white lives are better'
A video showing a woman making racist comments on Saturday at a protest in Elizabethton, Tennessee, has garnered hundreds of thousands of views on social media. According to the Johnson City Press, the woman has been identified as Sonya Holt, and she can be seen in the video yelling “white lives matter” and “white lives are better” and making homophobic remarks to protesters.
At one point in the video, Holt tells a Black woman that she is “just a poor little Black girl with a messed up mind.”
A spokesperson at the company where Holt was previously employed said she no longer works there as of Monday morning.
“[Holt’s] remarks were one of the most visual instances of verbal salvos hurled at Black Lives Matter protestors during Saturday’s demonstration, with several referring to protestors as ‘monkeys,’ and another man, seen on the same video as Holt, told protestors ‘we should have kept you (expletive) as slaves.'” the Johnson City Press reports.

Study: Black Lives Matter Protests DID NOT Cause Spike In Coronavirus Cases
I've noticed a lot of right wingers (aka racists) claiming the Black Lives Matter protests caused the recent spike in coronavirus cases.
This is NOT the case.
The reopening of the economy is what has caused the dramatic increase in cases lately, especially in states like Arizona, Florida, and Texas.
Any time a right winger claims the Black Lives Matter protesters caused the recent spike, throw this back in their face:
Protests against systemic racism held in 300-plus U.S. cities following the death of George Floyd did not cause a significant increase in coronavirus infections, according to a team of economists who have published their findings in a 60-page paper released by the National Bureau of Economic Research; these somewhat surprising results are supported by Covid-19 testing data in many populous cities where demonstrations were held.
In the immediate aftermath of Floyd’s death, health officials expressed great concern that protesters, potentially yelling and shouting in very close proximity, would quickly spread the virus, which might lead to devastating outbreaks.
However, researchers found “no evidence that urban protests reignited Covid-19 case growth during the more than three weeks following protest onset.”
In fact, they determined that, based on cellphone data, “cities which had protests saw an increase in social distancing behavior for the overall population relative to cities that did not,” leading to “modest evidence of a small longer-run case growth decline.”
The study’s lead author, Dhaval Dave of Bentley University, said, “In many cities, the protests actually seemed to lead to a net increase in social distancing, as more people who did not protest decided to stay off the streets.”

The reopening is what caused the recent explosion of cases:
Local officials in states with surging coronavirus cases issued dire warnings Sunday about the spread of infections, blaming outbreaks in their communities on early reopenings and saying the virus was rapidly outpacing containment efforts.
“We don’t have room to experiment, we don’t have room for incrementalism when we’re seeing these kinds of numbers,” said Judge Lina Hidalgo (D), the top elected official in Harris County, Tex., which encompasses the sprawling Houston metro area. “Nor should we wait for all the hospital beds to fill and all these people to die before we take drastic action.”
Frustration about the pandemic response has mounted among local leaders, who say they have had to grapple with conflicting orders and frequently changing guidelines from governors and the White House as they try to curb sharply rising infections.
After Texas reported another single-day record for new coronavirus cases over the weekend, Austin Mayor Steve Adler (D) told CNN’s “State of the Union” that there won’t be enough medical personnel to keep up with the spike in cases if the rate of increase continued unabated in his city.

Anyone else getting the sense that Trump WANTS to infect as many Americans as possible?
Even his own supporters. He doesn't care.
He's slowly starting to realize that he's gonna lose reelection and has shifted to a scorched Earth policy of burning everything down to the ground. A normal President would be pouring their heart and soul into fighting the virus as it would actually help them look like a real leader and win reelection.
Instead Trump appears to be intentionally trying to infect as many Americans as possible by organizing events where thousands of people could be infected.
He's essentially organizing super spreader events at a time when the US is seeing a record number of cases.
Much Of U.S. Scales Back On Holiday, But Trump Plans To Go Big
WASHINGTON (AP) — As coronavirus cases spike, public health officials are pleading with Americans to avoid large crowds and hold more muted Independence Day celebrations, but subdued is not President Donald Trump’s style, and he aimed to go big, promising a “special evening” in Washington that could bring tens of thousands to the National Mall.
Trump’s “Salute for America” celebration on Saturday evening was to include a speech from the White House South Lawn that he said would celebrate American heritage, as well as a military flyover over the city and an enormous fireworks display that could pack people downtown.
The president kicked off the holiday weekend by traveling to Mount Rushmore in South Dakota for a fireworks display Friday night near the mountain carvings of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln and Theodore Roosevelt.
