I don't know who'd enforce it...

..or even if it's enforceable.

John Heilemann tells it like it is...

I always enjoy...well appreciate and respect, Mr Heilemann's opinions on Trump and the GOP. He always puts into coherent, political poetry all the incoherent thoughts that run through my brain.

From today's 'Deadline White House' episode:

Hawley and "purported" election irregularities

"In a statement, Hawley said he feels compelled to put a spotlight on purported election irregularities. “At the very least, Congress should investigate allegations of voter fraud and adopt measures to secure the integrity of our elections. But Congress has so far failed to act,” Hawley said. "

We all know why he says he'll do it...but his statement relative to purported irregularities was a poor choice of words since purported suggests the 'irregularities' are nothing beyond Trump's self-serving delusions. The entire fucking world knows there were no election irregularities.

What Congress really needs to do is enact some legislation with teeth that will hold Senators, Representatives and Presidents accountable for violations of their oaths.

Opinions?

I heard a Republican Senator arguing against a $2000 'check' bill today because the result will be lots of money sent out to lots of people who haven't been financially impacted by the business closures. And I'm one of 'em...my particular situation is such that the various lockdowns and shutdowns had no effect on my income. And there are lots of others I know who are either in 'essential' jobs or able to work from home. At the same time, I know a guy in the restaurant business who's suffering, even with a PPP/small business payment...I don't know if he'll survive long term.

Initially, I didn't know what sort of procedure would be implemented to 'disburse' the monies but was surprised when I got a check. Well, I knew there was some sort of procedure you could use to apply for some cash (which I didn't do) but I guess it turned out that everybody within certain income ranges who filed a tax return got some money...but I didn't need it and I know there are some people who needed it desperately and still do. I eventually donated my payment to a food bank and will do the same if I get another.

My point is, there should be a more effective method to help the truly financially stressed, get through the pandemic than the current plan...maybe just increase unemployment amounts, for instance. And maybe I don't know what I'm talking about, which is why I started the thread.

Merry Christmas...

3000+ people died today from Covid, 3000+ will die tomorrow. 100,000+ people are hospitalized with Covid. An estimated 50,000,000 people will face hunger by years end, while an estimated 40,000,000 face eviction...

Trump started his Christmas holidays, leaving D.C. without taking any action on the relief bill, placing it in limbo; so the people facing hunger and eviction have no relief in sight and the government shuts down Monday...

Meanwhile, our 'favorite' president is in Mar-a-Lago, trying to scheme a way to somehow, overturn the election while lambasting the GOP for not helping him overturn the election...and playing a little golf.

Not exactly the Season To Be Jolly...

I wonder if any of...

..Trump's supporters are looking at the pardons and losing any respect for the man?
