I just no longer felt comfortable with the programming at Fox.
Chris Wallace uttered those words matter-of-factly, in between bites of a Sweetgreen salad at his new desk inside the Washington bureau of CNN, the network he joined in January after nearly two decades at Fox News.
For those on the left who admired him, and those on the right who doubted him, its a statement that was a long time coming.
A down-the-middle outlier at Fox News who often confounded conservatives by contradicting the networks right-wing stars, Mr. Wallace was also one of the channels fiercest defenders, disappointing liberals who hoped he might denounce colleagues like Sean Hannity and Tucker Carlson.
But in December, Mr. Wallace, 74, issued a final verdict: He was done. In a surprise move, he declined to renew his contract as host of Fox News Sunday and jumped to archrival CNN. His daily interview show Whos Talking to Chris Wallace? starts Tuesday on the new CNN+ streaming service.

At the edge of Kyiv, Ukrainians show off their counteroffensive.
NORTHERN OUTSKIRTS OF KYIV, Ukraine When Ukrainian forces hit a Russian tank with an American-made Javelin missile on a highway on the northern reaches of the capital, Kyiv, the explosion was so huge that it tossed the turret 10 yards down the road and shredded the rest of the vehicle and the men inside.
The charred body parts of Russian soldiers were still decomposing on the asphalt three weeks later, alongside scattered metal debris and ammunition. A single felt boot, favorite footwear for centuries in Russias frozen villages, lay blackened among the detritus.
Good shot, the Ukrainian commander said with elation, surveying the wreck. A deputy commander of the 72nd Mechanized Brigade, which controlled the area, he asked that he be identified only by his nom de guerre, Sulim. He pointed to blackened chunks of human flesh and bone on the road from Russian soldiers killed in the strike, and added, It was all humane, it was all very quick.
They came four times, Commander Sulim, 40, said. Let them come again. I am waiting.

I saw this video of John Sweeney and wondered what the drink was called.

JERSEY CITY, N.J. In 1872, four years before construction began on the Statue of Liberty, St. Peters University welcomed its first class, all male and mainly sons of Irish immigrants. Once the statue was complete, the elegant embodiment of the American dream stood with her back to Jersey City, a snub deeply ingrained in the gritty ethos of the city and the small liberal arts school that old-timers still refer to only as the college.
Nearly 150 years later, the coed Jesuit university continues to educate first-generation strivers. About 48 percent of its 2,134 undergraduates are Latino; 18 percent are Black; and 8 percent are Asian. Students speak nearly 40 languages and come from families with a median income of $55,300.
Most commute to and from the university every day. The others, roughly 25 percent of undergraduates, live on a two-block-square campus that is anchored by a brick-and-stone quad and straddles one of the busiest traffic arteries of the city, New Jerseys second largest.
This is what makes the glass-slipper journey of the No. 15-seeded St. Peters basketball team in this years N.C.A.A. mens basketball tournament particularly compelling.

UK MOD intelligence report
https://twitter.com/DefenceHQ/status/1507113449494659080There's been a lot of speculation about the sinking of the Russian LST in port this morning. Evidently the Brits are saying it wasn't an accidental detonation.
More video of the destroyed Russian ship
