Disney has found massive success in recent years by making live action adaptations of its classic animated movies. Films like Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King were box office smashes, capturing nostalgia from older audiences while introducing their most lucrative characters to younger generations. While Disney doesnt seem to be diverting from the strategy anytime soon, Peter Dinklage thinks that Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs should stay on the shelf.
Disney recently announced that West Side Story breakout star Rachel Zegler would be starring in a Snow White remake, playing the princess alongside Gal Gadots Evil Queen. But in an interview on Marc Marons WTF podcast to promote his role in Cyrano, Dinklage had some harsh words for the new remake. He said that while some fans have praised Disney for the racially diverse casting, they miss the larger issue of the way the original film portrays disabled people.
I was a little taken aback when they were very proud to cast a Latina actress as Snow White. Youre still telling the story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Take a step back and look at what youre doing there. It makes no sense to me, the actor told Maron. Youre progressive in one way and youre still making that fucking backwards story about seven dwarfs living in a cave together, what the fuck are you doing man? Have I done nothing to advance the cause from my soapbox? I guess Im not loud enough.
The original Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was the first full length animated feature from Disney, and remains one of the studios most iconic films. Dinklages concerns can be interpreted as part of a larger discussion of whether old art can be judged by newer moral standards. As societys views evolve, the debate over whether problematic works should be buried or studied continues to rage on. For his part, Dinklage doesnt think the story of Snow White needs to be hidden. He just wants to see the problematic aspects addressed, saying if you tell the story of Snow White with the most fed up, progressive spin on it? Lets do it. All in.

Sweden is not a NATO member, so it has to make sure its presence felt. Sweden of course, has maintained neutrality since 1812. Though one would be hesitant to call it strict. (It certainly did its best to protect the Nordic countries from incursions from both The Soviet Union and British empire in the middle of the last century. Yeah, that is a nice way to put it)

Best cities where the majority of homes are less than 100k.
Keep in mind that does not include property taxes. Some of these cities (I am looking your way Buffalo) have very high property taxes that negate some of the savings.
Good ideas if you are retired or work remotely.

DETROIT (FOX 2) - When a Detroit man was charged with dousing his pregnant girlfriend with lighter fluid and then burning over 60% of her body, his bond was set at just $50,000 or 10%, meaning he could bond out for as low as $5,000. Two days after the charges were filed, he did exactly that.
Devonne Marsh was released from the Wayne County Jail Friday morning. According to documents with the jail, he was released from custody just before 11:20 a.m. on Friday. He's now out on bond with multiple conditions including no weapons, no drug use, and is ordered not to go to their shared apartment.
More than 60% of her body was burned in the fire and she was last listed in critical condition. It's not yet known if her babies will survive.
After Marsh was charged, there was a concern that he would be released due to the low bond necessary to grant his release.

I know low and no bail are very popular around here but it is a horrible issue. Much like defund the police with a dramatically rising crime rate, this is neither the time nor place for bail reform for people who try to kill woman. See also the Christmas parade massacre guy

In what feels to be a perfectly American consolation prize for the fact that Congress has failed to pass voting rights legislation, Mars has redesigned the M&s characters for a more dynamic, progressive world, according to CBS News. So now, in addition to losing suffrage, we will also be losing our favorite bimbo icon: the hot green lady M&M.
Its nearly impossible to imagine our sexy candy-coated sister floating adrift without her thot energy. It feels as though the green M&M, with her fake lashes and hoe heels, wanted just one thing in this world and that was to f^ck.
I miss when she had a superiority complex. I miss when she bossed the other imbeciles around because she was more cunning and objectively hot than they could ever be. It seems, in reality, that the other M&Ms were jealous of her pretty privilege and that Mars has punished her for her God-given assets, so I would just like to inquire: What sort of message does that really send? That the girlies cant be horny? That we cant wear go-go boots to work? Take away our masc-thot and see what happens. The bimbos will rise, once more, removing every new green M&M from candy wrappers across the world, until the nice, professional version of candy Pam Anderson ceases to exist.
Meanwhile, the lady M&Ms are now getting along to show a force supporting women as they throw shine and not shade though we all know the brown M&M is just using girlboss energy as a facade for her own internalized misogyny. Her heels are now kitten heel professional length, because she wants to keep up with the boys as they scurry to the conference room.

I have no words... no dog in this fight. But I think it is okay for some woman to be sexy. That does not make them automatically bad feminist icons.

The chief executive of the UKs largest cat protection charity has stepped down after a row over the welfare of 18 cats being kept in his colleagues three-bedroom house.
Concerned about cat welfare and the charitys reputation, Charles Darley, 59, said Cats Protection should not support the chair of trustees, Linda Upson, in keeping the pets on welfare grounds.
To have a chair that apparently isnt adhering to best practice is very damaging to the charity, and disastrous for staff morale, Darley told the Guardian. Defra guidelines say cats should be given sufficient space to hide from other cats and from people. Every cat should have its own food bowl, its own water bowl, its own scratching post to think you can get 18 of those in one house would be stretching credibility.
He added: Ive spoken to five other charity chief executives, and they also said they couldnt defend this number of cats in that house.

I had to change the headline. The Guardian really dropped the ball on this one. Liable law issues maybe?

Two years into the pandemic, rundown bungalows command bidding wars, buyers keep snatching up places theyve never seen, and homebuilders cant find enough cabinet doors for everyone who wants a new home. The median price for an American home is up nearly 20 percent in a year. The for-sale inventory is at a new low. And the hopeful buyers left on the sidelines have helped drive up rents instead.
All of this may feel unsustainable the tight inventory, the wild price growth, the dwindling affordability. Surely somethings got to give.
But what if thats not exactly true? Or, at least, not true anytime soon for renters locked out of homeownership today or anyone worried about housing affordability. Theres probably no quick reprieve coming, no rollback in stratospheric home prices if you can just wait a little longer to jump in.
Its not a bubble, it really is about the fundamentals, said Jenny Schuetz, a housing researcher at the Brookings Institution. It really is about supply and demand not enough houses, and huge numbers of people wanting homes.

There is a different rate of inflation and an entirely different economy for those that are homeowners and those that aare renters.
Unfortunately for renters, homeowners vote in much larger numbers.
What is even more insane is we have people in thier 50's,60's and 70's still renting. What are they supposed to do when the cost of housing doubles in five to ten years.

Corbevax is targeting low-income countries to stop new COVID variants from emerging. Scientists say rich countries are still refusing to fund it.
With the Omicron variant spreading across the US at an unprecedented speed, medical experts have reignited their calls for mass-producing patent-free COVID-19 vaccines to address the lack of widely-available vaccines in low-income countries. But two scientists in Texas who have successfully developed such a vaccine say their effort still hasnt received any funding from the worlds richest countries, including the United States.
Dr. Peter Hotez and Dr. Maria Elena Bottazzi are professors at the Baylor College of Medicine and co-directors of the Texas Childrens Center for Vaccine Development, where they are renewing their pleas for the US federal government and other G7 countries to financially support the mass production of Corbevax, the worlds first open-source, patent-free COVID-19 vaccine being distributed on a mass scale.
Virologists have frequently noted that new variants like Omicron are more likely to emerge in countries where vaccines arent widely availablea problem that vaccine patents exacerbate, and that efforts like Corbevax aim to directly address. Without vaccine equity, low-income nations suffer from the virus disproportionately, all the while increasing the chances that the pandemic will continue indefinitely.

Interesting article about the priority of funding from our and other institutions.

Now honestly I find the Onion is a little more grounded with the NY Post being a more absurdest affair, but both are pretty funny dry humor websites.
Who did it better the NY Post or the Onion.
