Oscars Seeking To Eschew Politics, Partisanship In Favor Of Old-School Escapism
https://deadline.com/2023/03/oscars-politics-will-smith-donald-trump-zelenskyy-biden-jimmy-kimmel-1235285369/America may be deeply divided, but politics and the culture wars will not be center stage at this years Oscars if the organizers have their way.
Were not interested in distractions or partisan debate, were interested in Tom Cruise, a 95th Academy Awards ceremony insider says of this weekends superstar and blockbuster rich show.
We want to embrace the diversity of talent and nominees this year, and we want to try to go back to the days of escapism, an AMPAS source adds of the dual ethos of the 2023 Jimmy Kimmel hosted shindig. Escapism may be a hard sell with Netflixs anti-war film All Quiet On The Western Front on the ballot for Best Picture and other categories, but the Ricky Kirshner and Glenn Weiss produced broadcast is aiming to stay primarily politically agnostic and controversary free, we hear.

Christopher Dorner 10 years later.
https://www.sbsun.com/2023/02/09/timeline-of-the-christopher-dorner-manhunt-10-years-laterOne thing people should acknowledge, it worked. He got the undivided attention of the LAPD and the nation. He was the first to weaponize social media with people helping him dodge police. He got LAPD so paranoid they tipped their hand by granting investigations of his accusations, even got the acknowledgement of Charlie Sheen after mentioning him in his manifesto. Sick and twisted, but mission accomplished.

Over the past 70 years, only Lennon-McCartney, Carole King and a handful of others rivaled his genius for instantly catchy songs that remained performed, played and hummed long after they were written. He had a run of top 10 hits from the 1950s into the 21st century, and his music was heard everywhere from movie soundtracks and radios to home stereo systems and iPods, whether "Alfie" and "I Say a Little Prayer" or "I'll Never Fall in Love Again" and "This Guy's in Love with You."
