any late December birthdays? I finally figured out why I hate mine

For my whole childhood I resented a late December birthday because it was eclipsed by Christmas.
But now, it's New Years that makes the whole thing a drag.
This time of year, you begin to do that New Years thing: audit the year!
And there have just been so many awful years.
Living day-by-day, appreciating what's in front of me, has proven to be a much better way to live, than to constantly take stock of my life.
So screw December, New Year's, and February unprotected sex. Today is just a dark day in the northern hemisphere and I can't wait for the light to claw its way back into our days!

could Moore vs. Harper ruling block Georgia Trump prosecution?

https://www.businessinsider.com/trump-indictment-georgia-fulton-county-steps-2022-12

The evil side in Moore vs. Harper is saying state courts don't have jurisdiction to review federal elections held in states; that the federal government is merely "deputizing" the state legislatures, and only the legislatures, to run elections for national posts.
Question: if SCOTUS signs off on this, will it nullify Georgia's jurisdiction in the Trump vote fraud case? The fake electors, the "find me 11000 votes" call? Will all that vanish?

Just 18 percent in new poll say GOP control will change Washington for better

Ok, ok, ok...all the races were pretty close - none were even close to 80/20. And some Repukes won.
So the only conclusion you can draw is that Repukes are intentionally voting to make the country worse.
I don't have the psychology background, perhaps someone can explain. Is this masochism? Nihilism? What causes someone to crave abuse?

using "marshall" instead of "martial" isn't mispelling - it's illiteracy

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2022/dec/14/republican-ralph-norman-marshall-law-misspelling-trump

Confusing two homonyms isn't a spelling issue, it's a vocabulary issue.
This is like when a teacher asks someone to correct an assignment and they just make more errors the second time around.
Back to 2nd grade!!!

Hutchinson calls another Trump White House bid 'worst scenario' (but he'd still vote for him)

https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/3774564-hutchinson-calls-another-trump-white-house-bid-worst-scenario-for-republicans/

Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson (R) said that another run by former President Trump for the White House is the “worst scenario” for the GOP as he considers his own run for the Republican presidential nomination in the new year.

Hutchinson said in an interview with The Associated Press on Tuesday that he would not rule out supporting Trump if he becomes the Republican nominee, but that such a situation is what President Biden would hope for, presuming he runs for a second term.

This why I have no respect for Republicans.
They can't admit their philosophy and world view has reached a dead-end.

ITER - can someone explain why

they wouldn't just build it to function as a power plant, if it works?
$65 billion and 20 years to find out it doesn't work? Ok, sure, we had to know.
But if it does work, now you have nothing but a massive steam humidifier.
AND, they'll be using up precious tritium just practicing fusion but with no application.
It seems like a dumb choice to me. For this level of investment, you go for broke!
