Judge rejected Perry's bid to shield thousands of emails from Jan. 6 investigators - Politico

Judge rejected Perry’s bid to shield thousands of emails from Jan. 6 investigators - Politico

The chief judge of the federal district court in Washington, D.C., secretly rejected Rep. Scott Perry’s bid to shield more than 2,000 messages relevant to Justice Department investigators probing efforts by Donald Trump to subvert the 2020 election, according to newly unsealed court filings.

U.S. District Court Chief Judge Beryl Howell unsealed her extraordinary Dec. 28 decision on Friday evening, determining that the “powerful public interest” in seeing the previously secret opinion outweighed the need for continued secrecy.

Perry, a Republican lawmaker from Pennsylvania, had urged Howell to block the Justice Department from accessing 2,219 documents stored on his phone, which was seized and imaged by the FBI last August as part of the 2020 election investigation. He claimed that the records reflected his efforts to research potential legislative decisions — like whether to vote to challenge election results on Jan. 6, 2021 — and therefore should be protected from disclosure by the Constitution’s speech or debate clause, a provision meant to safeguard lawmakers from pressure or intimidation by the executive branch.

But Howell said Perry had taken an “astonishing view” of his immunity that would effectively put members of Congress above the law and free of political consequences for their actions. She ordered him to disclose 2,055 of the documents he sought to withhold — including all 960 of his contacts with members of the executive branch, which she said are entitled to no constitutional protection at all. Some 161 items, she said, were proper to withhold.

“What is plain is the clause does not shield Rep. Perry’s random musings with...

A Marshfield family is grieving the death of their son who was killed in action while fighting in Ukraine. The news of his death comes on as war between Russia and Ukraine marks its one-year anniversary.

Andrew Peters, 28, died Feb. 16 while fighting alongside the International Legion of the Defense of Ukraine, according to an email sent to Wisconsin Public Radio by his father, John Peters.

"Andrew had a strong sense of what was right and wrong," Peters said. "He felt the need to use his prior military combat skills to help the Ukrainian people fight and liberate their country. Andrew was extremely close to his fellow soldiers and was well liked by everyone. We are all extremely proud of his bravery and selfless sacrifice."

The family is working with the U.S. Embassy in Kyiv to bring his remains home. Peters said they are sharing their story to remind fellow Americans that "the war in Ukraine isn't just affecting Ukrainians."

The Last Slide, Before The Cut Of The 3rd Feed, Before They Took Questions, At Tonight's Town Hall

Across the top of the slide in white it says, "Those Presenting This Educational Seminar"

Then it lists what the lawyers are allowed to do... or aren't... (in blue).

1. Our three firms are not a partnership.
2. Our non-lawyer consultants are paid for their time.
3. There are many other fine law firms to consider.
4. If you have retained a lawyer, follow their advice.
5. I am not allowed to give legal advice on your specific case during a public meeting.
6. You may pick up your firms materials at the exits.

I've checked all three live feeds, which are now watchable recordings.

But ALL OF THEM cut off before the gathered crowd gets to ask their questions.

The list above, I had to transcribe from the very end where the Reuters Feed cut off.

The speaker before that slide has been doing Ground Water work for decades and said he had never come across a reading of ZERO in the portion of the report he was talking about.

I hate to be Mr. Conspiracy here, but...

When Erin started and was speaking, the microphone cut out and they had to trade it back and forth with one that worked a couple of times. Then the house lights and/or spot lights went on and off several times. Then the 1st feed goes down on YouTube (both PC and TV) WYKC 3, then Reuters goes down, then NTD goes down...

THAT is one hell of a lot of coincidences.

Can anybody else back me up?

Did the meeting finish on another feed and I missed it?

Has anybody thrown a fit on Twitter?

The main event was gonna be the townspeople asking questions and sharing their concerns...

I SURE AS HELL DIDN'T GET TO SEE THAT !!!

DID ANYONE ???

Dilbert pulled from Ohio paper after its creator's racist tirade - RawStory

Dilbert pulled from Ohio paper after its creator's racist tirade - RawStory

Dilbert, the three-decades old daily comic strip about office worker struggles, is being pulled from The Cleveland Plain Dealer following cartoonist Scott Adams' racist tirade earlier this week, the newspaper's editor wrote on Friday.

"This is not a difficult decision," wrote Chris Quinn. "No, this is a decision based on the principles of this news organization and the community we serve. We are not a home for those who espouse racism. We certainly do not want to provide them with financial support. Adams’ reprehensible statements come during Black History Month, when The Plain Dealer has been publishing stories about the work being performed by so many to overcome the damage done by racist decisions and policy."

"Until we decide what to replace Dilbert with, you’ll likely see a gray box where it has been appearing," wrote Quinn, noting that because comics are scheduled in advance, the strip may appear for a few more editions.

Adams, a former supporter of former President Donald Trump, has become notorious for...

Buttigieg praised as his response to Trump goes viral - RawStory

Buttigieg praised as his response to Trump goes viral - RawStory

Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg’s response to Donald Trump’s refusal to accept any responsibility for the impact his massive deregulations have had went viral on Thursday as video of him encouraging the ex-president to support the Biden administration’s efforts went viral.

During his visit to the scene of the Norfolk Southern train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio on Thursday, a reporter asked Secretary Buttigieg, “You mentioned the national political figures decided to get involved, it sounds like you’re talking about Trump. And then you said, ‘I need your help.’ How can he help?”

Buttigieg replied, “Well, one thing he could do is express support for reversing the deregulation that happened on his watch. I heard him say he had ‘nothing to do with it,’ even though it was in his administration. So if he had nothing to do with it, and they did it in his administration against his will, maybe he could come out and say that, that he supports us moving in a different direction.”

“We’re not afraid to own our policies when it comes to raising the bar on regulation,” Buttigieg continued. “And I’ve got to think that him indicating that this is something that everybody ,no matter how much you disagree on politics and presidential campaigns, can get behind – higher fines, tougher regulations on safety, Congress on tying our hands on breaking rules, all the other things that go with it that’d be a nice thing for him to do.”

'I Am Disturbed': Locals Alarmed Over Plan to Inject Toxic Ohio Wastewater Underground in Texas

WTF !!!

'I Am Disturbed': Locals Alarmed Over Plan to Inject Toxic Ohio Wastewater Underground in Texas

Residents and officials in Harris County, Texas have expressed alarm since learning that contaminated water used to extinguish a fiery train crash in East Palestine, Ohio has been transported more than 1,300 miles to a Houston suburb for disposal.

Houston's Coalition for Environment, Equity, and Resilience tweeted Thursday: "We are disturbed to learn that toxic wastewater from East Palestine, Ohio will be brought to Harris County for 'disposal.' Our county should not be a dumping ground for industry."

The Norfolk Southern-owned train that derailed and ignited near the Ohio-Pennsylvania border on February 3 was carrying vinyl chloride and other carcinogenic chemicals. After ordering evacuations, authorities released and burned hazardous materials from several tanker cars to avert a catastrophic explosion. Hundreds of thousands of gallons of water used to put out the flames have been collected and trucked to Texas Molecular, a private company in Deer Park that specializes in injecting hazardous waste underground.

"There has to be a closer deep well injection," Deer Park resident Tammy Baxter toldABC13 on Wednesday night. "It's foolish to put it on the roadway. We have accidents on a regular basis. Do they really want to have another contamination zone? It is silly to move it that far."

ABC13 reported that Baxter "first heard that the waste may be transported to the city she lives in from a video circulating on social media." After calling the mayor's office in Deer Park—one of 34 communities in Harris County—"she expected a return phone call dispelling the rumor. Instead, it was confirmed."
