a Red State Republican family, do not think that America isn't the greatest nation on Earth.
They haven't a clue that there are other nations who have more efficient education and health systems, for example.

The idea that white old folk tend to have a strong understanding that America isn't the greatest in most areas is inaccurate. They are the most nationalistic group who do not tolerate such criticism. Are you telling me that blacks and todays youths aren't more savvy about America's place in the world than old white men?

Yes, they might often harp back to the old days, but that is to a pre-civil rights movement, pre-sexual revolution time when women, gays and POC knew their place, according to their values.
