(32,886 posts)The best possible spin is severe political incompetence and insensitivity toward African Americans. What part of this dont you get exactly? If you are going to give a speech on MLK day and you are going to refer to the recently served first black President, you better make sure it is completely impossible that anyone could find your words disparaging toward him. In other words if you are going to do some criticism in that speech, separate your criticism from the discussion of both King and the first black President by a couple of paragraphs and different thoughts.
Sanders didnt do that.
But it gets worse.
Sanders has a history with Obama. Threatening to primary him, criticizing him, etc. When you take THAT history and context into account, Sanders words have a completely different meaning.
You cant explain that away.
